Design Program Manager III, Content Design Operations

At Expedia Group, our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. As an integral part of our Experience Design organization, Design Program Managers enable our design teams to strategize, define, track, and deliver high-quality, customer-focused outcomes in support of this mission.

We’re looking for a Design Program Manager to focus on our centralized and globally distributed content design practice. In this role, you’ll partner closely with the Expedia Group Content Design leadership team to remove barriers, shape ways of working, and help our team of 70+ content designers do their best work at scale.

About the Design Program Manager III, Content Design role

As a DPM, Content Design, you’ll report directly to a Senior Director of Design Program Management and spend your days working with our content design practice. The content design team at Expedia Group is committed to inclusive, accessible, and high-quality product experiences across all devices, for all customers. As a DPM, you’ll partner with content design leadership in holding content designers to high standards and developing systems and processes that empower them. The team you’ll support works alongside researchers, product managers, engineers, and other product designers in an environment that fosters putting people first and quickly making your ideas a reality.

This role will help the content design team create processes, orchestrate communications and ceremonies, develop our practice, drive professional development, champion and support inclusivity and equitability, and foster the design-led culture we’re building at Expedia Group.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with content design leaders — from senior management to Director+ level — to identify and remove barriers to high-quality content design work

  • Track capacity and demand across the product portfolio to estimate and communicate project needs for content design

  • Develop project schedules, define timeframes, and prioritize tasks to achieve project milestones and deliver intended objectives

  • Apply frameworks and engagement models that enable content designers to deliver outstanding customer experiences at scale

  • Orchestrate and help to run content design team ceremonies such as critiques, all-hands, offsite and experience reviews

  • Craft and manage communications to product teams and executive leadership

  • Advocate and champion design thinking and methodologies throughout the product development lifecycle

  • Partner with content design leadership to create processes and practices that uphold diversity, equity, and inclusion 

  • Coordinate with content design leadership to identify and report on organizational health and success measures for the practice

  

Who you are:

  • Experience in Design Ops Program Management, Content Design Operations, Human-Centered Design, or a related field

  • Knowledge of content design with an understanding of how content designers need to work in a cross-functional (product, engineering, design, research) product team

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale programs and projects that have delivered meaningful impact to a business

  • Experience building clear, concise, and well-structured documentation (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, executive communications)

  • Experience using JIRA (preferred) or related enterprise-level workflow software

  • Curiosity and a willingness to prototype and learn from new processes, workflows, and team ceremonies
