Director, Account Management - Vacation Rental

The Director of Account Management leads a Partner Success team of 15+ across Australia and New Zealand that are responsible for helping Holiday Rental Hosts and Property Managers to deliver exceptional travel experiences. Our teams develop strong relationships with Hosts to help grow their businesses and improve booking performance on the Vrbo Marketplace and beyond.

An experienced and proven leader of leaders, the Director will participate as a key member of the senior AM leadership team, and will quickly develop a multi-year business strategy, implement and optimize effective process, improve overall team performance, and achieve critical business targets for Australia & New Zealand. An expert guide on account management methodologies, the Director is also looked to by internal Expedia teams as an authority on the Holiday Rental Host perspective.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a 15+ Partner Success Account Management team based in Sydney and Auckland.

  • Drive strong outbound call and e-mail efforts focused on VR inventory retention, new VR acquisition through Hosts, and bookings and conversion growth in our two-sided marketplace

  • Develop and nurture key Property Manager relationships through the team's delivery of relevant data insights to these partners, and act as the primary point of escalation and advocacy

  • Coordinate with leaders across Retail, Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to ensure partner and traveler centricity across the Expedia travel platform.

  • Provide support to your teams by developing strong relationships with leaders in HR, Legal, Government Relations, Finance, Support, Operations, Analytics, and Onboarding teams

  • Represent Expedia Group at the senior-most levels in the region via conference attendance, speaking engagements, press relationships, ministries of tourism, local technology ecosystem, etc.

  • Lead from the front on recruiting, retaining, and developing the very best talent, and establishing a high-potential bench of future Expedia leaders

  • Provide solutions-based approaches to problem-solving, built upon solid knowledge of Vrbo products, e-commerce marketplaces, monetization, analytics, and revenue management

  • Analyze partner opportunities and trends, and set quarterly activity targets based on territory coverage plans with clear expectations on meeting ambitious business goals

  • Equip a team of experienced Managers to collaborate on enhancing Partner content, market analytics and insights, ongoing product adoption, and continually improving the traveler conversion funnel

Who you are:

  • Experience leading multiple managers within a large team in a fast-paced and global corporate environment

  • History of professional progression, with at least 5+ years of relevant management experience

  • High energy, relational, with a drive for delivering team results, a desire to be hands-on where needed, and a strong bias to action

  • Comfortable crafting clarity and moving decisively within an ambiguous and changing environment

  • Meaningful know-how coordinating and conducting strategic process from idea through to full execution across a large matrixed environment

  • Understands the "big picture" quickly, can distill and convey sophisticated business challenges, and propose simplified solutions

  • Identifies major obstacles and key opportunities, and then prioritizes where attention and investment are most needed

  • Intellectual curiosity and analytical horsepower, derives insights from data and uses research and analysis to arrive at well-structured hypotheses and conclusions

  • Naturally influential and a persuasive communicator with Executive presence

  • A candid and respectful collaborator, determined to earn the confidence of teams across the organization

  • An empathetic ear and highly-developed listener

  • Exemplifies a growth mindset, with an ability to inspire teams to strive for personal and professional growth

  • Passionate about innovative technologies in an evolving business environment, and experience with agile work-flow and technologies a strong plus (SalesForce, JIRA, Atlassian, Tableau, etc.)

  • True dedication to the travel industry and Expedia's mission

  • Preference for degrees focused in business, hospitality, or software
