Introduction to the team
Are you fascinated by machine learning and building robust machine learning pipelines which process massive amounts of data at scale and speed to provide crucial insights to the end consumers?
This is exactly what we, the Machine Learning Engineering group in Expedia, do. Our mission is to partner with our Machine Learning Science counterparts to use AI/ML to collaboratively transform Expedia’s data assets into intelligent and real-time insights to support Fraud & Risk detection. Our work spans across a variety of datasets and ML models and across a diverse technology stack ranging from Spark, Airflow, Databricks, Kubernetes, AWS and much more!
In this role, you will:
Work in a cross-functional team of Machine Learning engineers and Machine Learning Scientists to design and build business impactful ML solutions
Guides others in design of easily testable and observable software
Has strong understanding of how team's goals fit a business need
Ability to identify business problems at the team level and provide solutions
Demonstrates strength in multiple technologies or languages
Justifies technology choices to technical and non-technical stake holders
Serves as an expert for a given domain
Experience and qualifications:
8+ years with a Bachelor's or 6+ years with a Master's in CS or similar fields.
Expert knowledge with cloud services (e.g., AWS), workflow orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow) and multiple computer languages
Good understanding of machine learning pipelines and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow and Pytorch.
Recognized ability to fill in for peer engineering management as need arises
Experience in bringing together different components to form a fully functional solution to a business problem
Has experience leading team in operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability)
Ability to advise management on technical limitations of software design for products and provides alternative solutions
Has experience facilitating collaboration with different stakeholders with varied perspectives to develop effective solutions to issues
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
