Senior Manager of Data Engineering

Are you a data or software engineer with a strong technical background and passion for strategy? We are looking for someone who has exceptional hands-on technical skills and is strategically minded who can help design and build the long-term architecture for the various components of our data engineering function, provide technical leadership to a team dedicated to driving technology innovation for enabling faster and smarter decision making and contribute towards building the world’s most effective travel platform.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and guide teams in in the design and implementation of B2B Martech ecosystem, including but not limited to CRM (Marketo), Salesforce, clickstream, paid channel platforms

  • Represent B2B marketing in the EG-wide platform and data discussion

  • Provide recommendations and identify/source the right engineering team to prioritize and build the necessary data pipeline according to the blueprint

  • Lead and drive delivery of fast, reliable, scalable, and secure marketing data products

  • Work closely with business and engineering teams in a highly visible role that requires you to coordinate across teams, mitigate risks and balance business needs with technical constraints

  • Have a strong attention to detail, a collaborative work style, and a real passion for solving hard problems as simply as possible

  • Interpret business challenges and recommend integration of the appropriate systems, applications, and technology to provide a fully functional solution to a business problem

  • Master software design with the best methods, shape coding methodologies and best methods and promote adoption of new platform technologies

  • Enable optimum organizational efficiency by taking a whole systems approach and thinking across boundaries to identify which policies/processes should be standardized and which should differ

  • Independently run complex technical projects or assist in the management of these projects

  • Drive program and system architecture discussions to identify a suitable quality solution to the business requirement

  • Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishingSLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability)

  • Develop scalable and highly-performance distributed systems with everything this entails (availability, monitoring, resiliency)

  • Communicate and document solutions and design decisions

What you are:

  • 8+ years software development/data engineering experience in an enterprise level engineering environment demonstrating increasing levels of technical leadership

  • 5+ years hands-on data engineering experience with excellent understanding of ETL, AWS, SQS

  • Experience architecting, developing, and successfully delivering complex, large-scale systems

  • Fluent in PHP, Python and LAMP stack

  • Experience building data pipelines from multiple sources including APIs, CSV, event streams, NoSQL, etc. using distributed data frameworks 

  • Experience with different aspects of data systems including database design, data modelling, performance optimization, SQL etc

  • Experience in batch and/or stream processing (using Spark) and streaming systems/queues such as Kafka or SQS

  • Daily practice of agile methods including use of sprints, backlog, user storie

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $161,500.00 to $226,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $258,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
