Sr. Manager, Marketing Analytics

Expedia Group (EG) Marketing Analytics are looking for an astute, consultative, hard-working individual with a strong analytical and business background to lead their Programmatic and New channel Analytics team. The role will have ownership of high-visibility analytics projects across a wide variety of marketing channels and lead a team of analysts to work towards these goals.You will be working closely with teams across EG including Marketing Channels, Media, Finance, Data Science and Data Engineering, as well as mentoring a team of highly skilled individual contributors, who specialise in understanding marketing channels and providing insights to their stakeholders through analysing data. We seek to take a holistic approach, looking at all of our marketing channels together in order to evaluate the best initiativesthat will both enhance our business and give our customers the best travel experience.

What you’ll do:
You will seek to work with your stakeholders to understand the returns on some of our mature investment channels as well as identify the scale with new emerging channels by providing data based evidence of their returns. This will involve assessing the needs of a wide range of stakeholders and synthesising analytical solutions to business problems, which can address the pressing needs of the business with data driven decision making and carefully constructed testing. This should ensure that we roll out the best solutions for both customers and our overall business optimisation across our digital ecosystem, with consistent results we can trust.

You will take complex data analysis and make it simple to understand by distilling internal and external data sources into meaningful insights for leadership to make well-informed business decisions. You will drive an agenda of test design, visualisation, automation and insight creation

  • Enjoy full end-to-end responsibility of running projects and solving problems

  • Manage a team of three highly skilled junior analysts and help them to each own their career development

  • Help to develop and define the vision, strategy and roadmap for our wider Analytics team

  • Coordinate across channel specific marketing teams to promote alignment with business goals and decisions, bringing teams together to ask the right analytical questions

  • Proactively engage with internal and external partners to assess existing and upcoming business needs, presenting your analyses to a wide EG community.

  • Design, develop, and support robust business reporting, visualisation, and impact analyses

  • Collaborate with business partners across Marketing Channels, Data Science, and Finance to craft improvements in reporting, analytics, and processes to ensure success, with a focus on continuous improvement, efficiency, and operational perfection

  • Share expertise and outstanding practice with analytical functions to aid delivery on future projects

Are you up to the challenge?

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's, Master’s, PhD degree in Math, Data Science, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experienced people manager who has effectively managed high performing talent, managed employees in different locations and contributed to department talent planning.

  • Demonstrated ability in recruiting data scientists or analysts to own team.

  • Significant and demonstrated experience in at least one major ML programming language (Python, Scala…) and familiar with others.

  • Good knowledge of statistical techniques required in testing and knowledge of multiple testing approaches (AB, pre-post etc) to estimate impact

  • Knows and applies data visualisation principles consistently resulting in clear and consistent outcomes.

  • Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a sense of ownership and drive

  • An excellent story-teller, who can communicate insights effectively and suggest clear business actions to take to capitalize on these

Preferred qualifications:

  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to drive action despite incomplete information.

  • Project management, planning, and organisation skills, including ability to work with varied projects in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work optimally in teams with varied strengths, including key leaders and executives

  • Experience in a customer service-related, e-commerce-related, or strategy-related field
