Vice President Finance - Brand Marketing

In this critical leadership role, the VP Finance - Brand Marketing will lead the Brand Finance team, as part of Expedia Group’s Brand organization.  This individual is a strategic partner to multiple Brand LT leaders including SVP Brands & Creative, SVP Global Creative, SVP Loyalty & Creative.  In this role they are responsible for all investments for Agency, Loyalty, and Partnership globally across all geos and regions.  They are also responsible for managing reporting and investment management of the Expedia, Hotels.com, and Vrbo brands, ensuring visibility into individual LOB brand performance.  They will be the finance owner for all brand channels and ensuring there is robust ROIs in support of business decisions, and driving prioritization of spends to deliver optimal profitability and market share.

As a well-rounded finance leader with deep expertise in brand investment and portfolio management, this position will play a critical role in guiding EG’s marketing spending to drive revenue and operating income growth, and help Brand Marketing leadership deliver against financial goals.  Having a passion and curiosity for solving complex challenges and a high degree of comfort with ambiguity will be essential to success.  Driving robust financial modelling to determine the impact of Brand investments will play a crucial role in ensuring EG is receiving maximum impact from Brand investments.  Ensuring we can measure and monitor ROIs, use data to make recommendations, and communicate effectively to senior leaders will be critical.

What you'll do

  • Make Investments, determining how to prioritize investments and build robust business cases

  • Ensure the optimal mix of Brand investments across Agency, Loyalty, and Partnerships to achieve profitability (ROAS) and market share goals

  • Identify opportunities to modulate mix of investments to opportunistically improve financial results

  • Influence key stakeholders across the Brand Marketing LT to balance delivery of financial results while remaining fiscally prudent and investing for the future

  • Monitor and manage Investments, ensuring delivery of expected results

  • Build a scalable financial process to determine the ROI of brand investments that drives decision making

  • Build and manage real-time mechanisms to track investment results versus expected outcomes

  • Collaborate closely with Operations and Finance stakeholders across the Brand organization to check-in on performance, trends, and status of key initiatives

  • Analyze and communicate results against expected performance to the President, Expedia Brands/  COO, Expedia Brands / Brands LT / Brands Finance LT

  • Communicate Expedia Brand Marketing results and expectations impactfully and clearly

  • Partner closely as a key contributor with the Brand Marketing LT to communicate results to the Brand LT & TLT relative to expectations

  • Ensure Brand CFO is knowledgeable on financial trends and recommendations, and address ad hoc queries from other senior leaders

  • Build and Maintain A High Performing Organization

  • Lead an experienced team, providing strategic leadership and coaching, and ultimately developing exceptional talent for Expedia Group

  • Create a vibrant, energized and enthusiastic environment for the function by creating a compelling unifying vision that steers, motivates and develops the team

  • Embed a culture where training, coaching and delivering proactive feedback lead to positive impact and results; creating a work environment where people can realize their full potential; thus, allowing the organization to meet current and future business challenges

  • Be a key thought partner to the EG Brands strategy function, collaborating on setting executable strategies across Geo, Channel, Brand, and LOB

  • Seek and embrace finance/Expedia Group-wide strategic projects i.e. cost initiatives and finance organizational recommendations

  • Build relationships and drive collaboration across the global Expedia Group finance community

Who you are

  • Senior leadership in a variety of analytical and strategic, high-visibility finance roles

  • Proven track record in driving excellence in financial planning and insight whilst being experienced in delivering robust financial plans which empowers high performing businesses to grow value

  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills; proficiency in advanced Excel and financial modeling

  • Proven ability to influence and drive leadership to decisions and tangible outcomes

  • Comfortable creating positive relationships across a number of teams and supporting c-suite level leaders

  • A Storyteller: able to build and communicate clearly a vision and strategy

  • Skilled thought-leader, confident and successful at influencing others to act.

  • Proven track record to work autonomously and lead a broad range of projects simultaneously and efficiently

  • Able to evaluate and making recommendations across opposing and equally critical business needs

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of flexibility and accountability, in a constantly fast-evolving environment
