Career Check-in with Maral Agassi: Associate Market Manager
Maral is an Associate Market Manager in Sweden, and is part of the Market Management team – Nordic Director Market Management Territory and Sweden & the Norway Area Manager team. Based in the Stockholm office, Maral joined EG in September 2024, and has already had an exciting start to life at Expedia Group.
As well as getting to know her team, and the Stockholm office, Maral has spent time traveling with her manager through southern Sweden visiting hotel partners at their properties, engaging in insightful and productive conversations. Tell us about your team.
I’m part of the Nordics Market Management team, and our primary focus is to put the Nordics on the global map, while fostering strong, long-lasting relationships with our partners. What makes our team truly unique is the blend of experience we have — about half of the team are relatively new, while the other half have been here for over five years. This creates a fantastic dynamic where fresh ideas and perspectives meet deep industry expertise. We’re always learning from one another, whether it’s through brainstorming creative solutions, sharing best practices, or simply supporting each other with day-to-day challenges. Despite the fast-paced environment, the collaborative and goal-oriented spirit keeps us motivated and successful.
Tell us about your role.
As an Associate Market Manager, my primary responsibility is working closely with local hotels to help them optimize their performance on Expedia’s platform, and deliver exceptional experiences to travelers. This involves analyzing availability and rates – which are the core of our business – to ensure our partners are offering competitive, high-quality, options. A typical day includes reviewing data, identifying new opportunities for growth, and connecting with partners, to strategize around their goals. Since I’m still fairly new to the role, it’s an exciting balance between diving into the learning curve and taking on the responsibilities that come with the job. Every day offers a mix of growth, problem-solving, and collaboration, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact our work has on partners, no matter their size.
What is the story behind your ‘EG with me’ feature?
In my recent market visit to Nynäshamn, I had the chance to meet with three partners at their amazing properties: Skärgårdshotellet, Körunda Golf & Konferenshotell, and Nynäs Havsbad. Each property had its own unique challenges and opportunities, which made the day both interesting and insightful. At Skärgårdshotellet, we focused on enhancing their appeal to business guests from the military and oil refinery sectors. At Körunda, the conversation revolved around their growth plans and ways to attract seasonal travelers, while at Nynäs Havsbad, we explored how they could leverage our REV+ Expedia Partner Central tool to optimize revenue. What stood out to me was how unique every partner’s needs are and how tailored our solutions need to be. It was also amazing to have the support and collaboration of my teammate Jenny Langone during the visit. From insightful discussions to double rainbows on the way back, it was a day full of learning, growth, and positive vibes.
Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?

Since I’ve joined, it’s been incredible to see how collaborative and goal-oriented everyone is, no matter where they’re based. From day one, I felt included and trusted, and I’m constantly impressed by how much positivity flows through the team. I love that my work at Expedia Group lets me combine this passion for travel with my day-to-day job, and it’s meaningful to be part of a company where making the world a better place is a core value.
What has the experience been like working at EG Stockholm?
The Stockholm office has been such a great place to work. It’s open, friendly, and everyone genuinely has each other’s back. The trust level is high here, no matter the team or location, and that’s made for a really positive environment. I’d say “positivity and inclusion” best describe the culture – everyone’s working toward the same goals, and it’s just so refreshing to feel that kind of support across the board.
What have you learned about market management at EG so far?
Working in market management has really highlighted the importance of flexibility and adapting to each partner’s needs. The “one-size-fits-all” approach just doesn’t work here. Every partner is unique, and I’ve learned that simplicity and clear, actionable, insights can go a long way in helping our partners achieve their goals. Expedia Group is committed to every partner’s long-term success, whether it’s a small boutique hotel or a larger chain. And honestly, I love that no two days – or partners – are the same. It keeps the role exciting and full of variety, which I didn’t expect to this extent.
