As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of software development for your team, including participating in technical designs, implementation, functional analysis, and release for mid-to-large sized projects. You will also be responsible for on-time delivery of features, setting timelines, coaching/mentoring your team, and hiring.

What you'll do:

• Extend outside of direct organization and collaborate with peers and leaders across EG to advocate for your team.

• Review the skill and expertise requirements to accomplish team goals and identify staffing and talent resources to fill project roles

• Guide employees and managers to develop team and individual goals, providing regular and specific feedback, and assess individual and team performance.

• Craft the culture of your team by building team rituals, processes and practices that build strong team bonds and an open trusting environment where diverse viewpoints, opinions, approaches, candid conversations, and critiques can happen

• Help maintain a healthy work life balance for the whole team (including yourself)

• Support your team in solving complex abstract problems related to

  • data capture across micro service architectures

  • scalable and highly performant distributed systems

  • real time data processing

  • web platform integrations

• Research and recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns for large-scale distributed data capture and processing

• Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability, data quality checks).

• Anticipate and recognize bottlenecks in work processes between teams and make suggestions for ongoing improvement

• Aggressively simplify the problem space so that you scale

Who you Are:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Equivalent Experience; Technical degree or relevant experience is applicable.

• 8+ years of experience as a Software or Data Engineer and 3+ years in a people management role building high-performance engineering teams, preferably in the data domain.

• Experienced people manager who has organized and developed other managers and high-performing teamsof at least 8.

• A thought leader who can craft a compelling technologyvisionfor change and influence action with partner teams.

• Have priorcoding & development experience with commonly used programming languages in softwareengineering

• Experiencedwith tools and frameworks for data processing,stream technology, scheduling, data quality, query engines, andcost optimization.

• Collaborated with product and program peers to perform capacity planning/allocation of teams of 8+ people.

• Implementation experience with components of distributed data architecture (streaming events, distributed data processing)

• Possess extensive experience in Java programming language (with experience in JavaScript & Scala a bonus)

• Experience in microservice architecture, asynchronous and event based architecture design, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale

• Strong Experience with AWS technologies

• Understanding of HTTP and RESTful web services.

• Mentoring and coaching team members.

• Delivering and influencing product roadmap, working in collaboration with product team.

• Experience in using or building data capture capabilities is a bonus
