4 Reasons I Joined Expedia Group’s Finance Team

By Anthony Foschini – Senior Manager, Finance

My name is Anthony, and I’m currently based in Seattle at the beautiful Expedia Group HQ. I joined the Finance organization in November 2024, following roles at Microsoft, Boeing, HP, and JPMorgan. Growing up in Colorado, I spent most of my life close to home until my first travel experience – a College Break trip to Western Europe at 18. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to explore 44 countries. This love for global experiences, combined with my professional background, made the opportunity at Expedia Group’s Finance team feel like a natural and exciting next step. Here are the four main factors that solidified that decision for me.

1. Culture

I was invited to attend a Finance Networking Event at the Seattle Campus last summer, and after hearing folks’ personal stories and EG journey, it was clear that they were speaking from their hearts. The whole evening felt like casual information sharing; not a high pressure recruiting/sales event.  This “candidate first” experience was echoed throughout the formal recruiting, interview, and onboarding stages.

2. Communications

Clear, concise, timely, and relevant. My recruiter was verbose where needed, and brief when appropriate — but always diligent with follow ups and closing outstanding items. The hiring panel was clear about the good, the bad, the people, and the environment. I knew what to expect, from whom, by when, and was provided a fantastic team of resources along the way. While my team may be geographically dispersed, we stay in close touch via Slack, and regular ‘virtual’ tag ups throughout the week. Engagement is high, and folks are quick to share weekend updates, help needed for a project, and everything else in between!

3. Exposure

It was important to me that I find a role which allowed me to use my huge finance toolbox, and one which provided the opportunity to develop emerging talent. As a member of the AFP (Association for Financial Professionals), and IMA (Institute of Management Accountants), I love to spend my time helping define the future of finance – technical acumen, soft skills, or general coaching/mentoring. My current job as a Senior Finance & Strategy Manager allows me to work directly with folks in different functions, locations, and stages in their career. It’s the perfect intersection of using skills I’ve polished over the years, flexing new muscles in areas I’m less experienced, and preparing me for next steps.

4. Impact

I’m able to see a clear line of how my work impacts the enterprise, and its stakeholders along the way. In everything I do, I try to inspire my team to do the right things the first time (when possible), and to maximize reuse for anything we create. By leveraging the work of others, we can collectively solve problems quickly and use our resources in the most efficient way possible. It’s a great feeling to be a part of something like Expedia Group– changing lives one trip at a time!
