Purvi G R | Associate Software Development Engineering Intern

Purvi joined our 2020 summer intern program. We connected with Purvi to find out what she was busy working on during the internship, as well as what opportunities she had to make a real impact in her role. Read on to discover Purvi’s experience of life at Expedia Group.

What does your typical work day look like?

I typically start my working day at 10am. First, I take some time to look at the reviews on my previous pull requests and try to resolve them before getting ready for my team’s daily standup, at 12pm. These standups are one of my favourite times of the day, because that is when I interact with my buddies and manager, live, plus I get input from my tech leads on my work for the rest of the day. I work until the evening, with a few breaks in between, and then spend some time with my family.

What have you enjoyed most about working at Expedia Group?

I really enjoyed working on one of the best cloud services in the market. And my enthusiasm was boosted even more when by actually seeing the results for the changes in a very short period of time. I also had the opportunity to interact with a lot of teams in India, as well as abroad. Lastly, I discovered that doing production releases was too much fun, which I never imagined I would be doing as an intern.

What makes your team unique?

All the interns in my team are females from south India and my tech leads are all from north India, which I think makes for quite a unique experience.

Who has influenced you the most?

My mom. She’s made me the strong, independent, and ambitious woman I am. She is a really hard working and practical person and is the rock that seems to center and balance our family.

What is your favorite weekend getaway?

I’d say a day out in Bangalore to Nandi Hills with my friends.
