Career Check-in with Expedia Group Boomerang: Steph Lenk

Steph Lenk is a Senior Marketing Planning Manager in Supply Marketing based in Austin, TX. She originally joined Expedia Group in 2018 as a Senior Planner for Global Advertising at HomeAway (now Vrbo). After eight years at EG, Steph explored new opportunities at a few other companies before returning to EG—bringing fresh perspective and renewed passion. Read on to learn more about Steph’s career journey and what inspired her to come back.

Tell us about yourself and career journey 

For me, marketing has always been both art & engine. Over the past 16+ years, I’ve followed that belief across a career path that’s been anything but linear, spanning global brands, consultancies, and scrappy agencies. Every stop pushed me to grow and lean into what I love most: understanding audiences and customers, testing bold ideas, and finding insights that move people and deliver results. I love the work: diving into the messy middle of creativity and data to find the spark that truly connects.  

Why did you decide to rejoin EG? 

Working at HomeAway and Expedia Group shaped my career in meaningful ways, and I’m thrilled to rejoin to make an impact in an industry that I love. I truly believe our mission, and EG’s scale, talent, and ambition make it the place to drive meaningful change alongside brilliant, passionate people.

What kind of work are you doing as a Senior Partner Marketing Manager?

I’m on the Planning & Performance team in Supply Marketing, building and optimizing the structures and processes that drive performance at scale. So far, I’ve streamlined operating rhythms so teams can focus on high‑impact work, launched a formal experimentation program in partnership with x-teams to increase data‑driven decision‑making, and am rolling out a goal‑setting framework that makes it easy to visually map goals to EG priorities and measurable impact. My focus is on systems that increase collaboration, accountability, and impact.

What excites you about Expedia Group’s future? 

EG is always innovating, and we’re in this really exciting time where we have the right combination of human expertise, data, and AI to help us transform travel at scale, helping partners reach the right customers and deliver more personalized experiences for travelers.

If you had to recommend one travel destination, what would it be?

Tough choice! I love trips where I can dive into culture, adventure, tasty food, and pool time. I’d love to return to Mexico City & Valle de Bravo, Mexico—especially during the Monarch migration, where millions of butterflies banket the forest in one of nature’s more awe-inspiring sights.
