Reena Patil, SVP, Supply Marketplace, Membership and Emerging Business, has been at EG for three years. But to her, the scale and global impact of what we’re building makes it feel much longer (in the best way). 

Describe your role at EG? 
I lead the mission-driven teams behind our supply marketplace, membership, and emerging businesses. Our focus includes building a world-class travel marketplace rooted in trust, deepening customer loyalty through meaningful value, and scaling the next generation of growth for Expedia Group.

Describe your career journey so far?
Before joining EG, I spent eleven years at Google leading product management for some of its most complex, high-scale platforms including Local and Maps Ads, G Suite, and Mobile Commerce. This involved managing multi-billion-dollar portfolios and scaling products to billions of users. Earlier in my career, I helped build foundational parts of the Android ecosystem and led global product and engineering teams across mobile, payments, and enterprise software. 

I was drawn to travel by its unique combination of emotional resonance and operational challenge. Whether it’s helping someone discover a new destination, reconnect with loved ones, get a better deal, or simply travel better, the impact is deeply human. That sense of purpose, combined with EG’s mission-driven culture, made it an inspiring next step in my journey.

What’s the most meaningful project you’ve worked on? 
One recent project I found especially meaningful focused on reducing last-minute host cancellations for vacation rentals, which disrupt vacations and erode trust in our marketplace. By improving reliability and accountability across our platform, we saved over 60,000 trips in just one year. 

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received? 
The best career advice I’ve received is simple: “Light the candle instead of cursing the darkness.” To me, it’s a reminder that in moments of uncertainty, real leaders take action.
