In his own words, Sachin Singh, SVP, Book-To-Trip Technology, has “always been a traveler at heart.” With a background in building  two-sided marketplaces and a passion for travel, joining EG felt like the right next step. Now almost three-and-a-half years into his EG journey, he still feels lucky to help travelers make more memories every day. 

Describe your role at EG.

As SVP of “Book-To-Trip” Technology, I oversee a global team responsible for developing and maintaining Expedia Group’s booking and post booking systems, encompassing secure and frictionless checkout systems, enterprise-scale payment processing, advanced fraud prevention, and innovative post-booking solutions through classic and Agentic AI self-service experiences. So, when someone comes to our websites or uses our apps to book and pay for a trip, they are interacting with what our team has built. Our job is to enable swift, safe bookings then act as an “always on” trip companion for travelers until their trip is complete. 

What was your career before joining EG?

For over 13 years at Amazon, I built and scaled global teams and large-scale systems that powered Amazon’s two-sided retail marketplace—leveraging AI/ML to improve product search & discovery, catalog quality, and safety & regulatory compliance across billions of products worldwide. 

What drew you to the travel industry?

I’ve always been a traveler at heart—curious about new cultures, energized by new places, and inspired by the stories that unfold along the way. That personal love for travel is what drew me to the industry. Being part of a space that helps people explore the world, create memories, and connect with something bigger than themselves is deeply fulfilling—and I feel lucky to help shape those experiences every day. 

What is your favorite thing about working in Technology at EG? 

In the dynamic world of travel, connecting travelers to the right experiences—across flights, stays, transportation, and activities—is a complex technical challenge. What I love most is the opportunity to simplify this complexity for our travelers through our two-sided travel marketplace. Using AI-powered solutions, we enable travelers to focus on what really matters to them: the joy, spontaneity, and magic of travel. 

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve received? 

One of the best pieces of career advice I’ve received is “Start acting like the role/level you want to be in.” 

This mindset changed everything for me. It encouraged me to step up, take ownership beyond my title and role at that time, and lead with the mindset of where I wanted to go—not just where I was. By embracing this approach, I proactively expanded my capabilities, earned trust, and was ready when the next opportunity came.
