Jurriaan Klink | Vacation Rental Partnerships, Director | Madrid, Spain

Can you start by introducing yourself and your team?

My name is Jurriaan Klink. I’m a Director of Vacation Rental Partnerships at Expedia Group, and I’m based in Madrid, Spain. My team is spread across Madrid and Prague, and oversees small to medium-sized partners, including markets like the UK, Spain, Germany, and Southern Europe. We support both individual property owners and professional managers, helping them to succeed on the Expedia Group platform. When we do our job well, travelers enjoy seamless bookings, great value, and memorable stays. We’re a diverse, multicultural team united by a shared love for living in Madrid.

Expedia Group Madrid

What’s it like working in the EG Madrid office? What makes it special?

I love working in Madrid. The office is in a prominent high-rise surrounded by restaurants and things to do. We occupy three floors and host teams across Vacation Rentals, Hotels, B2B, HR, Finance, and more. It’s a substantial hub with lots of opportunities for career development and cross-team collaboration. The facilities team organizes breakfasts, lunches, and learning events. We even had a former professional football player, Luis García, in the office for a Q&A with employees There’s always something exciting happening.

You’ve worked in several Expedia Group offices. Can you tell us about that journey?

I started life at Expedia Group in our Cancun, Mexico, office, and then moved to Orlando, Washington DC, Seattle, and now Madrid. I was already living in Mexico when I joined EG. I started as an account manager overseeing the Cancun hotel market. From there, I followed job opportunities that led me into people leadership, managing hotel supply teams across the U.S. I then transitioned to the vacation rental side and moved back to Europe. I’m originally from the Netherlands, so it was a great chance to be closer to family while growing in my career. What I learned along the way is that while some offices focus more on certain lines of business, what’s consistent is the people. Across all offices, there’s a shared passion for travel and alignment with Expedia Group’s values. That’s been comforting, especially when relocating.

What makes the vacation rental experience unique compared to other types of properties?

I’ve always enjoyed account management and business development. Our team works with partners to tailor their offerings based on traveler insights, whether it’s pricing, content, or promotions. We help them attract high-quality travelers across all Expedia Group brands, not only Vrbo. I’ve always been drawn to relationship-building and helping partners succeed. Seeing the impact of our work, and making a real difference to traveler experiences is incredibly rewarding. And what’s especially exciting about vacation rentals is the highly customized guest experience, meaning that every property and partner is unique, which means the experiences we help create are unique. Vacation rentals often bring families and friends together in one space, which create lasting memories, and we’re in the memory-making business after all.

What advice would you give to someone joining your team or starting a similar role?

Come in with curiosity, drive, and a hunger to learn. Take ownership of your growth. There’s a supportive team around you, but a growth mindset is key. Build strong relationships internally and with partners, and learn to turn data into compelling stories that help partners understand traveler needs. I’d also say to start by excelling in your core role, then expand your impact through projects and networking. In our team, you’ll gain valuable business acumen, market insight, and skills in communication, resilience, and negotiation, which are all highly transferable across Expedia Group and beyond. There’s clear room to grow from managing small partners to mid-market and enterprise accounts.
