In this edition of Expedia Group Arrivals, we’re welcoming Donna Miller, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations in our Travel Partnerships and Media (TPM) division. Based in our London, UK, office, Donna joined Expedia Group in August 2024 from business travel platform, Egencia. Donna is a leader who likes to bring clarity and focus for her teams, and is concentrated on ensuring we have a best-in-class commercial operation at EG by providing the right tools, best processes, and performance models, for her teams to succeed. Learn more about the start of Donna’s EG journey, below.
You’re a leader in the Travel Partnerships and Media division, what are some of your team’s main focuses?
I joined EG in August 2024 as the Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations in the Travel Partnerships and Media (TPM) division. Our focus is bringing high-quality offerings and the right supply to the travel marketplace from our supply, travel, and advertising partnerships, so that we can give our travellers a breadth and depth of choice as they make their bookings. We also manage the partnerships with the software companies that connect to our marketplace, while ensuring a best-in-class commercial operation. That means using the best tools, processes, enablement and performance models to help our teams be successful. We’re excited to continue to bring more AI driven solutions into our way of working, to complement some of the great solutions that we have in place today.

I’m sure you have had an interesting career; can you tell us about the journey so far?
I started my career journey in the tech industry with Compaq and began with optimizing performance through CRM and improving commercial operating models. From there, I had an opportunity to be part of the Compaq/HP merger and was on the integration team, which was a fantastic opportunity to learn through such a broad experience. The common thread in my experience has been about improving performance through tools, processes and operating models, and driving scalable growth. I’ve since used these skills and experiences in a few different industries. Working at Vodafone I helped drive digital channel transformation, and later at Sky TV I led a step-change in the tools and operating model used across the sales and retail teams, to drive commercial performance. I officially caught the travel industry bug as a consultant working with Egencia, a business travel company. During that stint, I led the post-acquisition integration of two companies they’d acquired in the Nordics and the US. Later on, I actually joined Egencia as an employee, and now, a few years later, I’ve started my new adventure at Expedia Group.
What is it about Expedia Group that excites you most?
I love working in travel – for me it’s a privilege to be in an industry that’s all about connecting people. Travel creates learning, growth, fun, new experiences and memories – all those things that happen to you when you travel. I also love technology, and how it’s constantly evolving. And so, this is a great combination of those two things.
What really attracted me to join Expedia Group is our potential. We all know EG is a big company, but it also has so much potential for more, and that really energizes me. We’re just getting started, and I love being in companies that are growing and scaling at pace.

What would you say is your leadership style and how do you cultivate it?
I’ve always been curious, and that was encouraged as I was growing up, to be interested in other people, to ask questions and to say when you don’t understand something. That curiosity is still a core part of my leadership style, and I hope it stays that way!
I think my team would describe me as the type of leader who tries to bring clarity and focus. That’s really important, especially in large companies where there’s always a lot going on. Being able to help the team to focus on what’s important is a core part of my job as a leader. That gives them the space to solve the right things and helps us be clear about what we’re intentionally not going to do.
I am passionate about ‘why’ we’re doing something and the value that it can create. It’s so easy to get caught up in ‘just doing the work’ but being able to create value is really energizing for all of us, and I love when teams can see the real impact of their work.

Okay, last question: what is your favourite type of holiday?
Generally, I go between two quite different types of holidays. I get to the point every year where I need a ‘do-nothing trip’ where you just read and sleep and relax, with no adventures and no itinerary. Equally, my husband and I really enjoy shorter city breaks, too. I love the feeling that you get from being somewhere new, feeling the vibe of the place, finding great restaurants and discovering new things. One of my favourite parts is actually planning the vacation, and then knowing that you have the trip to look forward to is all part of the experience.
Thank you, Donna!
