Hear from two Expedians on the team as they share a little bit about themselves, their experiences, and insights into their roles at Expedia Group.

Sandra Schoenauer – Senior Financial Operations Coordinator

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me starts with checking Salesforce tickets from account managers, addressing any inquiries they have from our partners, and ensuring that we provide accurate and timely information. Another important aspect of my day involves reviewing contracts, and making sure everything lines up correctly before moving forward with processing.

What do you enjoy most about working at Expedia Group?

What I enjoy most about working at Expedia Group is the dynamic environment that promotes continuous learning and growth. The opportunity to collaborate with talented individuals from diverse backgrounds makes every day fulfilling.

If you could share one thing that makes Expedia Group unique, that people might not know about, what would it be?

One thing that makes Expedia Group stand out to me is its focus on inclusion and diversity. Being part of a company that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds has enriched my work experience and created a true sense of belonging.

What makes your team special?

What makes my team special is our collaborative approach, regardless of where we’re based globally.  This closeness and support not only makes working together feel effortless but also contributes to our team camaraderie that I genuinely cherish.

What’s the best career advice you’ve received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to always prioritize my happiness and fulfillment in my job. It’s important to pursue opportunities that align with my passions, values, and long-term goals. This advice has encouraged me to continuously seek out growth and fulfillment in my career journey.

Tell us about your favorite vacation?

One of my favorite vacations is the yearly visit to my home country, Colombia, where I get to spend quality time with my family and loved ones. Beyond that, I find great joy in outdoor activities like floating trips and exploring beautiful trails and nature spots right here in the Midwest.

Connie George – Senior Financial Operations Analyst

What does a typical day look like for your team?

A typical day will usually consist of processing EG affiliate partner contracts and ensuring they are accurate and entered into the system correctly. This can be a very in-depth process and may be highly intricate depending on the terms of the contracts. At times, this function may involve manually calculating commissions or reviewing and accounting for booking activity that may have taken place. I frequently research large amounts of data in order to identify and help solve partner inquiries related to commissions calculated or payments issued. 

What do you most enjoy about working at Expedia Group?

I really enjoy that Expedia Group attempts to show their employees appreciation. Our office frequently holds events or activities for employees to bring groups together and help boost morale. I feel like they really try to go above and beyond in this area. EG hosts small events every few weeks that allows you time to step away from your work and partake in a fun craft or activities which can be a great way to break up the day and bring people together for a bit of fun.

Can you share any career and/or personal growth you’ve experienced while at Expedia Group?

Expedia Group has so many areas and tools to help individuals grow and expand their knowledge or experience. I have utilized several of their learning classes to help build a strong and personalized work style. I have recently taken on a leadership position and there are so many tools available to help you grow to become the best leader that you can be. 

What makes your team special?

My team has nearly tripled in size to support the growing business with affiliates over the past two years. We work hard and we also value work-life balance. My team is compiled of high performers that understand and appreciate the fact that each of us are equally important in the different roles that we play as well as the different skills that we each bring with that. We have a saying on our team that we hold at the highest esteem, “We win as a team and lose as a team.” My current team has the best display of teamwork and camaraderie that I have ever experienced. No one will hesitate to jump in and help another team member out, because we know that the end goal is what is important, and it takes each one of us to guarantee the success of our team.

What does EG’s purpose, travel is a force for good, mean to you?

To me this means that we are more than a booking platform. We stand behind the products that we sell and the partners that help us share travel opportunities with the world. Expedia Group is truly customer and partner focused. We value each of our customers that book on the site and each of our partners which help us ensure the guest is having the best possible experience.
