Month of Caring 2025: Aurore’s Journey of Giving Back

Every September, Expedia Group celebrates Month of Caring (MoC)—a global initiative that empowers employees to volunteer their time, skills, and energy to causes close to their hearts. Now in its 14th year, this tradition continues to grow in reach and impact. Aurore Veyrier, Director of Media Insights & Planning & MoC lead, offers a heartfelt look at how this initiative has evolved and why it continues to matter.

Can you describe how Month of Caring has evolved since you’ve been with the company?

I joined Expeda Group in May 2016 in our Singapore office. Back then, this annual initiative was known as the “Day of Caring.” Each office would organize a big event, bringing together a large group of employees to make a collective impact in our local communities.

However, after 2020, as the nature of our workplace evolved due to Covid, the Social Impact team took an important step. They reimagined this global initiative as the “Month of Caring”, providing greater flexibility for all of us. This change meant that employees could now participate in one or more events throughout the month, choosing opportunities that best aligned with their agendas, interests and values.

What impact have you seen Month of Caring make in our local community?

In previous years, whether in Singapore, Toronto, or Montreal, I participated in a variety of events – ranging from kit packing, visiting a retirement home, local poverty outreach, to sorting donations. No matter the activity, what I appreciated most was spending time with my EG colleagues and knowing that, together, we were making a meaningful difference in someone’s life. I’m not talking about changing someone’s destiny, but simply making their day a little brighter or more special by offering something truly invaluable: our time.

What Month of Caring Projects are you leading in 2025?

As in previous years, we are excited to offer various volunteering opportunities for employees in the Montreal office. They can choose to make a difference right here in the office by assembling hygiene kits for CleanTheWorld, or step out of their comfort zone and contribute directly to our local community.

As a MOC co-lead, we’ve partnered with several local organizations to ensure there’s something for everyone. Employees might sort food donations for Moisson Montréal, run any distance between 1 and 42kms for a good cause with Le Phare (a pediatric palliative care resource), donate blood to save lives at Héma-Québec, or help Le Chaînon (a women’s shelter) by sorting items for their thrift store. No matter which activity they choose, the collective participation of our 150+ Montreal office employees is sure to make a meaningful difference!

If you could send a message to future volunteers about the importance of Month of Caring, what would you say?

Take advantage of this unique opportunity that EG is offering to give back to our community! Many of us want more ‘meaning’ in our lives and wonder how we can make a difference outside of work. EG is making it possible for us to contribute during office hours, recognizing that the collective impact we can have together is truly invaluable.
