Expedia Group Campus Hackathon 2026
Join the travel tech hackathon of the season and stand to advance to the interview stages of our Summer 2027 Internship Program.
Travel is about experiencing, discovering, connecting, but it doesn’t always go to plan. Flights get delayed, bookings change, weather disrupts journeys, and support lines light up when travelers need help most. But what if we could anticipate and solve problems before travelers even need to ask?
Join us to build ideas that could transform stressful moments into confident journeys, and shape the future of travel for millions around the world.
The top 10 participants will advance to the interview stages of an internship with Expedia Group, while the top 3 winners will also receive Expedia travel vouchers of up to ₹50K for their next travel adventure.

What We're Solving
✈️ AI Air Travel Companion: Build an AI-powered air travel assistant that suggests and optimizes flight options based on user profiles and inferred travel preferences. The solution should support multi-city travel, direct versus connecting flight trade-offs, flexible date constraints, and seasonal traffic or pricing patterns to generate personalized and optimized flight recommendations.
💡 Hotel Review Intelligence Engine: Build an AI-powered hotel intelligence system that analyzes hotel reviews and ratings to assess hotel performance over time, detect seasonal and aspect-level sentiment shifts, and generate personalized, evidence-based hotel recommendations based on user profile, review context, and semantic intent.

Is this a team or an individual hackathon?
This is an individual hackathon.Can students from colleges not listed in the eligibility criteria apply?
Currently, this hackathon is open only to 3rd-year B.Tech students from IIT Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Hyderabad, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Guwahati, BHU, and BITS Pilani.Can I change my hackathon challenge selection after registering?
As stated on the registration page, you must select one of the two challenges – AI Air Travel Companion or Hotel Review Intelligence Engine when you register. We will not accommodate for change request after registration. -
Where will the hackathon take place?
The hackathon is virtual. The Beginner and Advance coding rounds, and the Innovation round will be hosted online. The Finale will involve a virtual presentation to our expert judges.How many participants will progress through each stage of the hackathon?
There is no participant limit for the Beginner and Advance Coding Rounds! All candidates who successfully pass the Advance Coding Round will advance to the Innovation Round. From there, we will select up to 40 top performers to pitch in the Finale, where our top 10 participants will secure fast-track interviews and our top 3 will also win Expedia travel vouchers.How am I notified throughout the Hackathon?
You will receive emails at each stage of the Hackathon with clear instructions on the rounds and requirements. -
I am attempting a challenge on the HackerRank platform for the first time. How can I prepare for a smooth experience?
In addition to preparing well before your challenge, it is recommended that you go through the following checklist for a smooth experience.
Install and use the latest versions of Google Chrome or Firefox browsers to take your HackerRank challenges. For more information, check Browser recommendations for the best experience.
Ensure you have an uninterrupted internet and power supply to avoid problems during the challenge.
Use a web camera-enabled computer to take a proctored challenge. If your challenge is proctored, you will be notified in your invitation email. For more information, check Taking Proctored Challenges.
Ensure that you do not take part in any malpractices, as this can get captured in your report and may lead to disqualification from subsequent rounds.What if I encounter technical issues during the challenge?

What is a fast-track interview?
The top 10 participants of this hackathon will bypass the initial screening stages and advance directly to the behavioral test and interviews for our Summer 2027 Internship Program.How do the Expedia Vouchers work?
The top 3 winners will receive Expedia travel vouchers. These vouchers can be used for any booking on Expedia.co.in. The vouchers will be credited to your Expedia account and are not transferable or exchangeable for cash.
