Introduction to the Team
Our Corporate Functions are made up of teams that support Expedia Group, including Employee Communications, Finance, Traveler and Partner Service Platform, Legal, People Team, Inclusion and Diversity, and Global Social Impact and Sustainability.
The Data Scientist role sits on the Yield & Analytics team in the Finance division of Expedia Group. Within Yield & Analytics, the Supply Marketplace & Content Product Analytics pod supports the Product and Commercial teams on the Supply side of the two-sided marketplace with Product Analytics support. This includes discovery for product enhancements, A/B testing and other causal inference methods for impact incrementality assessment, product and business performance measurement and diagnostics—all in the service of building a Trusted Marketplace for our Partners and Travelers.
In this role, you will:
Work on cross-functional product research projects, developing incrementality estimates for opportunity sizing, product discovery, and post-launch impact assessment utilizing quasi-experimental methods.
Manage scalability and automation projects across the Supply Marketplace Product Analytics team, accelerating analytics delivery across the rest of the team.
Stay up to date with the latest tools and methodologies enabled for Data Science & Analytics functions within Expedia Group, and ensure awareness and adoption across the team.
Collaborate within a cross-functional team to contribute to cross-team projects and work with enablement functions for maximum analytics scalability and automation.
Experience and Qualifications:
You have a Bachelor’s, Master’s degree, or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related scientific field, with 2–4 years of work experience, or 4+ years of experience in a comparable data analytics role.
You have expertise in SQL and Python or R, and at least one commonly used visualization tool such as Tableau.
You have experience applying and interpreting statistical concepts such as regression analysis, A/B testing, and other modeling techniques, with a clear understanding of causation and statistical significance versus correlation and exploratory analysis.
You demonstrate the ability to frame complex business problems as analytics problems, outline and execute analytics insights projects, and proactively engage with relevant domain experts, peers, and stakeholders across different parts of the business to deliver maximum impact.
You can demonstrate experience with automating repeated measurement and reporting tasks, and building scalable analytics products to streamline insight self-serve capabilities for stakeholders.
