Introduction to the Team:
This position is part of the Expedia Group Security Engineering & Technology Operations team which is responsible for Technical Operations within one of the largest eCommerce companies in the world. As an Infrastructure and Enterprise Engineer II, you will play an integral part in the team’s ability to respond to and resolve major service impacting events. This challenging position will yield incredible experience to those interested in job responsibilities that focus on restoring service to our customers and employees in a fast paced, cutting-edge environment.
In this role, you will:
Drive the resolution of major incidents to the quickest possible service restoration
Collaborate with operational and development support teams, along with other business partners and customers to achieve your goals and drive improvement
As a well-rounded and skilled technologist, you’ll also help directly repair impacted services where the opportunities exist
Serve as the first level of escalation for issues in the Expedia Group production environment
Play a key role in maintaining high availability for multiple online travel websites, leveraging a variety of monitoring and support tools to help diagnose and triage issues
Develop internal tools and process improvements in both proactive and reactive setting
Provide timely and accurate communication to internal stakeholders and external business partners via outage notifications
Learn and stay current with standard e-commerce and travel industry technology
Troubleshoot and triage complex technical issues spanning multiple teams and areas of responsibility
Collaborate with teammates and technical teams across the globe to bring together critical incident details including post-incident action items
Help the team learn and improve by delivering and sharing data, insight, analysis to help drive improvements
Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent demonstrated IT work experience with an emphasis towards production support of high-capacity critical eCommerce systems.
3 + years of hands-on experience in Infrastructure Engineering roles.
Experience with Okta (administration, integration, policies, MFA)
Familiarity with ISC (Identity and Security Controls) frameworks and their practical implementation
Understanding of PKI infrastructure, SSL/TLS, and certificate management best practices.
Demonstrated ability to expertly navigate major incident pressures and use times of stability to drive improvements and solve problems
Experience managing resources in AWS through both console and other management tools, including identifying / terminating degraded resources and other triage methods
Ability to troubleshoot large, complex systems with an eCommerce emphasis
Deep understanding in support of Microsoft Server OS versions, Linux Operating systems,
Experience with diagnostic and logging tools,
Effectively communicate technical issues in a non-technical manner and engage with a globally distributed team of technically diverse individuals
Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of web application platforms such as IIS, Apache and Tomcat and confirmed experience administrating them at an enterprise level.
Experience managing resources in AWS through both console and other management tools, including identifying / terminating degraded resources and other triage methods.
Validated ability to troubleshoot large, complex systems with an eCommerce emphasis
Deep understanding in support of Microsoft Server OS versions, Linux Operating systems
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with secrets management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager).
Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle including issuance, renewal, revocation, and inventory management.
Work with internal teams to ensure timely certificate renewals and avoid outages.
Experience with IAM governance or IGA tools (SailPoint, Saviynt, etc.) is a plus.
Experience with monitoring fundamentals such as SNMP, including applications like Cacti, Grafana, Splunk and Graphite to visualize performance data.
Effectively communicates technical issues in a non-technical manner and engage with a globally distributed team of technically diverse individuals.
Well versed in internet architectures, including web, application, and database components such as Apache, memcache, MySQL
Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID environments including user lifecycle management, role-based access controls (RBAC), Conditional Access Policies, and security settings.
Integrate SaaS applications with Entra ID for Single Sign-On and user provisioning via SAML and SCIM.
Manage on-premises Active Directory including domains, OUs, group policies, DNS, and trusts.
