Introduction to the Team:

We're the Insurance team at Expedia Group, and we're on a mission to redefine how travelers experience peace of mind during their journeys. Whether it's trip protection, flight cancellations, or medical emergencies abroad, our goal is to deliver seamless, reliable, and intelligent insurance experiences across Expedia's suite of brands (like Expedia.com, Vrbo, Hotels.com, and more).
We work closely with different insurance suppliers to onboard their products into our systems and make them available to customers during various booking journeys — such as during checkout, post-purchase, and even through trip management pages. Our team ensures the right protection is offered at the right time, making travel safer and more confident for millions of users.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, build, and operate full stack services and user experiences, including API design, low-level system design, and data modeling to support scalable, resilient applications.

  • Lead implementation of secure, performant, and maintainable code across front-end and back-end components, driving engineering best practices in testing, observability, and deployment.

  • Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to translate business and customer requirements into technical solutions that can be reused across multiple products and domains.

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of critical services, including production readiness, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement of reliability and performance.

  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, ensuring robust data handling, guardrails, and alignment with platform standards.

  • Apply familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products to enhance developer productivity and customer experiences across services and UIs.

Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience.

  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Substantial professional experience as a full stack software development engineer, including ownership of production services or applications.

  • Proven experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs, low-level system design (LLD), and data models for high-traffic or business-critical systems.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in at least one modern front-end framework and one server-side technology, with strong grounding in software engineering fundamentals, testing, and code quality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and evolving architectures for multi-service or domain-level systems, including integration patterns, data contracts, and cross-service reliability.

  • Track record of improving performance, scalability, and security of full stack applications in complex, distributed environments.

  • Hands-on experience integrating or extending AI/ML-enabled components in production systems, such as personalization, recommendations, or intelligent automation, with appropriate safety and governance.

  • Expertise in observability, deployment pipelines, and automation to drive operational excellence, reduce toil, and improve time-to-recovery for owned services.

  • Deep experience using data to inform technical decisions, including experimentation, metrics analysis, and telemetry-driven insights to guide system and product improvements.
