Job Description

Introduction to the Team:

As a developer on the EG Multi-channel Shopping Technology team, you will contribute to profitable and high-impact capabilities that attracts millions of travelers annually. You’ll play a key role in the ongoing modernization of the technology stack, driving improvements in efficiency, scalability, and operational cost reduction. Your work will directly support both travelers seeking the best deals and suppliers optimizing their inventory, ensuring EG continues to be the world’s leading travel marketplace. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions, leveraging modern engineering practices and tools. What you’ll do:

• Develop scalable, highly available, and reliable micro-services with high throughput in the tens of thousands of requests per second with low latency.

• Developing solutions with real-time data, cached data, and data at rest will allow us to meet the demanding SLAs and work closely with data scientists to optimize our solutions. All of these solutions will be designed for and built in the cloud.

• Develop core capabilities that enable features and APIs that will drive our business

• Work with brand partners on a scalable integration patterns to access our core systems

• An opportunity to participate in exciting global company hackathons and various career building courses with co-workers of all levels of expertise

Who you are:

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

• Able to break down complex problems and drive towards solutions.

• Experience in Java and/or Kotlin programming languages

• Build and maintain micro services, streaming systems in Production supporting Tier 1 services.

• Familiar with data processing using technologies like Spark, Spark Streaming, Spark SQL, or Map/Reduce.

• Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Spring Boot, and Kubernetes.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to work well with in and across the teams

• Technologies We Use: Java, Kotlin, Scala, Python, Sprint Boot, Kafka, Kubernetes, gRPC, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Redis, S3, AWS, Docker, Splunk, Data Dog, Apache Spark, and latest opensource technologies.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.

• 5+ years of software development experience using programming languages such as Java and/or Kotlin.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with data processing technologies like Spark, Spark Streaming, or Map/Reduce.

• Experience with messaging systems like Kafka and NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch or Cassandra.

• Proven ability to break down complex technical problems and drive the implementation of solutions.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a track record of effective collaboration within and across teams.

• Experience building and maintaining microservices or streaming systems in a production environment.

• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and frameworks such as Spring Boot.
