Introduction to the Team:

At Expedia Group, our Global Finance Technology team is reimagining the financial systems and data backbone that power corporate and business-critical accounting functions. We’re not just modernizing financial platforms—we’re embedding machine learning and LLM-powered solutions at the core to detect anomalies, uncover insights, and supercharge decision-making. If you’ve ever spotted an AI/ML opportunity in your past work—and turned it into a solution that moved the needle—you’ll feel right at home here.

What you'll do:

  • Lead complex, well-defined engineering projects from design through delivery, owning implementation, testing, deployment and post-release support.
  • Design moderately complex systems and APIs consumed across the business unit; select appropriate technologies and frameworks to meet requirements.
  • Develop, test, debug and maintain production software (including bug fixes, troubleshooting, and incident response) within established SLAs.
  • Write clean, maintainable, modular code using sound software design principles, data structures and design patterns.
  • Build easily testable and observable services: add comprehensive tests, instrumentation and monitoring at the project level.
  • Identify performance and reliability issues; propose and implement improvements to code, systems and operational processes.
  • Produce operational artifacts and communications (runbooks, RCA reports, release notes) and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to more junior engineers; lead by example in code reviews and architecture discussions.
  • Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand dependencies, align designs and solve shared problems.
  • Participate in and contribute to a community of practice; share new skills and help raise team effectiveness

    Who you are:

  • You have 5+ years of professional software engineering experience (3+ years if you hold a Master’s degree).
  • You’ve developed software in at least three different languages and have run/maintained at least four projects/products in production.
  • Strong in one or two languages and comfortable with multiple technology implementations; able to evaluate language/technology trade-offs for given use cases.
  • Experienced creating and owning APIs that are used across teams or the business unit.
  • You understand how applications, databases and platform components interact and can design solutions that span these boundaries.
  • Comfortable designing and implementing testable, observable systems and using testing and monitoring tools to ensure reliability.
  • Skilled at debugging applications, meeting SLAs for fixes, and resolving non-routine issues.
  • Able to think holistically: identify process, policy and operational changes to increase cross-team efficiency.
  • Strong communicator who can bring stakeholders together, explain trade-offs, and present technical and operational reports to broader audiences.
  • Continuously seeks new technical skills and shares knowledge with peers; contributes to code evolution and technical direction in reviews.
