Introduction to the Team:

The People Technology Team at Expedia is seeking a Workday Engineer II with a primary focus on Payroll to support Expedia Group brands. In this role, you will configure and maintain Workday Payroll processes and integrations, ensuring compliance and accuracy across global operations. You’ll collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver solutions that meet business needs while adhering to Workday best practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Configure and maintain Workday Payroll processes to support global
    requirements

  • Collaborate with Product Managers and technical teams to translate business needs into Workday solutions.

  • Support payroll-related integrations and troubleshoot issues with vendors and internal teams.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including runbooks and process guides.

  • Participate in testing and deployment of Payroll enhancements and fixes.

Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience working with Workday, with a strong focus on Payroll configuration and support.

  • Hands-on experience in designing, configuring, and implementing Payroll in Workday.

  • Solid understanding of US Payroll and related compliance requirements.

  • Ability to create and maintain Payroll-related reports and dashboards.

  • Familiarity with Business Processes, EIBs, and basic integration concepts.

  • Understanding of Payroll security roles and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday Pro certification in Payroll.

  • Experience with global payroll processes beyond US (e.g., EMEA, APAC regions).

  • Familiarity with Payroll integrations (ADP, CloudPay, or similar vendors).

  • Knowledge of tax compliance, garnishments, and retro pay calculations.

  • Exposure to Absence or Time Tracking is a plus but not required.

  • Exposure to Workday Studio or advanced integration tools.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex payroll issues and recommend process improvements
