Area Manager, APAC New Partner Team - Lodging (Kuala Lumpur)

The Area Manager's main responsibility will be leading a team responsible for assisting in the set up and onboarding of conventional lodging properties within their assigned territory. You and your team will support delivery of onboarding goals and continuously look to effectively onboard new partners. In doing so, the New Partner Team will work with our hotel and property partners to help them maximize the production potential from their participation in the marketplace by smartly utilizing the power of Expedia Group’s unique data insights. This role is central to our account management mission of delivering exceptional travel experiences by bringing the power of the platform to life for our partners, both current and new. This team ensures that Expedia Group brands’ global customers always find the most suitable hotel for their dream trip wherever they want to go, and that our hotel partners can effectively, efficiently and throughout the year, reach Expedia Group’s full breadth of global traveler demand.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a team of New Partner Associates dedicated to executing on high value conventional lodging leads within the assigned markets/languages

  • Continuously coach and provide recommendations to direct reports; improve team effectiveness by building the skills and capabilities of the team members

  • Execute cross functional Expedia business initiatives; through initiation and planning stages to actively anticipate market impact and roll out plans

  • Provide input to senior management in developing effective and scalable solutions to improve process efficiencies

  • Develop & drive sound recommendations based on insights from data analysis to optimize hotels in the Expedia marketplace and their lodging market overall

  • Lead the execution of overall market business plans to meet or exceed key targets and goals set by leadership

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree; or equivalent related professional experience

  • 5-8 years’ proven experience

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve and set goals

  • Led teams successfully in a fast-paced team environment

  • Strong project management skills, able to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines

  • Ability to have an effect on internal and external decision makers

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; including fundamental pitching and able to articulate ideas clearly and appropriately influence others

  • Proficiency with Project Management and CRM tools (Microsoft Project and Salesforce)

  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Able to ensure that priorities are met in a fast pace environment

  • Proficiency in English , other languages a plus (Japanese, Mandarin, Korean..)

  • Present ideas and directives clearly and persuasively; actively listens when spoken/presented to

  • Ability to effectively communicate to various levels and through a variety of communication channels

  • Ability to influence direction of decisions even when holding a position contrary to the majority

  • Ability to work independently as well as be a strong team worker, always seeking to improve team and organizational performance

  • Motivate, coach and mentor a diverse and geographically fragmented team, effectively leading performance and mobilizing team and resources to achieve or exceed set goals
