Do you enjoy UX writing and complicated content challenges? Do you want to use your content design skills to craft incredible user experiences?
At Expedia Group, our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. As a Content Designer II on our Experience Design (XD) team, you’ll help us achieve that mission by contributing to the tone, structure, and narrative flow of content across Expedia’s product experiences.
You’ll be perfect for the role if you blend UX writing with storytelling. You identify user needs and find the right content to meet those needs using research, logic, hard data, and empathy to inform your content choices. You’re passionate about creating product experiences that are clear, helpful and human.
What you’ll do:
Reporting to our centralized Content Design practice, you’ll help drive the strategy and approach to content design for our new loyalty and rewards program across Expedia Group brands
While no two days are the same, your main responsibilities will include:
Using human-centered design methods to design, craft, and test content solutions that address real customer challenges
Applying a holistic, customer-focused approach to creating a cohesive content strategy for our loyalty programme across all product areas
Applying UX writing skills to orchestrate a clear and compelling voice and tone
Applying UI frameworks, modularity, localization, reuse, and related concepts to design content solutions that scale
Using both qualitative and quantitative insights and business analytics to drive content insights and solutions
Partnering across teams to improve the accessibility, inclusion, readability, and translatability of product content
Clearly and confidently communicating decision-making rationale to team members and stakeholders
Who you are:
We realize that content design is constantly evolving, and we know that no two people enter this field through the same path. So, we’re not expecting you to be a specialist in everything listed here, but we do ask that you demonstrate expertise commensurate with the job level in whichever methods you use.
We’re also looking for people who will contribute frameworks to our growing team and our design system, so we’re excited to see how you scale your thinking
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent related professional experience in UX writing, content audits and analysis, content mapping and modelling, content planning and sourcing, conversational design, information architecture, and storytelling (This is not a content marketing role)
At least 2-4 years related professional experience as a content designer, content strategist or UX writer
Ability to audit, analyze, structure, create, and present content independently using established frameworks
An understanding of human-centered design (HCD) practices
A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are
Strong presentation and storytelling skills and the ability to communicate compelling rationale and narratives to your team and partners
A passion for travel and for our mission
A portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills - we’re especially interested in seeing examples of work you’ve done for Android and iOS apps. If you have experience working in a platform or two-sided marketplace, it’s a definite plus
