Corporate Counsel – State & Local Tax

Expedia Group is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join the Expedia Legal & Government Affairs group to provide legal advice in the analysis of U.S. state and local tax legislation, tax policy, tax audits, assist with tax litigation, and provide on-going legal support to the Expedia Group tax team. This position will be based in Seattle and will report to the Senior Director, Legal (Tax).

What you’ll do:

  • Perform legal research and analysis on state and local tax issues

  • Review state and local legislation and provide advice on application to Expedia Group

  • Work with Government Affairs and Tax on tax policy and proposed legislation

  • Provide legal advice and strategy for state and local tax audits and voluntary agreements

  • Assist with state and local tax litigation

  • Assist with state and local tax due diligence associated with company transactions and acquisitions

Who you are:

  • 7+ years of legal experience in the practice of tax law, with particular focus in the areas of U.S. state and local indirect taxes 

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts directly and clearly

  • Ability to work both independently and with multiple teams

  • Common sense, great judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a sense of humor

  • Great teammate with demonstrated skills to work effectively with colleagues and business clients

  • Results oriented with a focus on customer satisfaction

  • Ethical and professional integrity
