Reporting into EG’s Chief Procurement Officer, this position will lead the Product & Technology Category team within Expedia Group’s Global Procurement organization. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for EG’s Chief Technology Officer and her extended staff of Product and Tech leaders. You will actively manage a large team of procurement professionals and oversee the profile of commercial and contract negotiations which they spearhead. You will be asked to forge close relationships across the P&T Organization.

This is a highly visible position within EG’s Procurement Leadership Team. We are looking for an influential leader who will help create positive disruption as Procurement continues to grow its influence across EG’s ecosystem. EG Global Procurement is in the midst of a multi-year transformation and is an emerging function across EG’s overall landscape. The right candidate for this role will be comfortable in a dynamic and ever-changing environment and will both support some of that change, while being a force for consistency and certainty to the P&T Category team and our business partners.

What You’ll Do:

  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of the Technology category and translate that knowledge into useable outcomes which benefit EG. In doing so, this person should aim to be known as a value-added advisor for the P&T function.
  • Develop a well-documented plan for the Tech Category by working across different Business Lines and Procurement teams to ensure coordination and that EG is optimizing its leverage.
  • Expect to be a primary savings driver of the EG Procurement organization, and to lead in Cost Reduction and Avoidance generation.
  • Actively participate in process improvement initiatives and volunteer actionable ideas for improvement and paths to unwind complication. You will be asked to challenge status quo.
  • Use market data/research and industry benchmarking and to drive outcomes and improve the perception/influence of Procurement.
  • Act as consultant to business customers and internal partners in the overall procurement process, i.e., strategic sourcing, negotiations, contracting, procurement operations, approvals, etc. You strive to demystify sometimes complicated processes and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to direct reports to achieve consistently improving results, with a heavy focus on cost competitiveness, improved contract terms and the like. Act as an escalation point, as necessary.
  • Partner with internal organizations to define highly complex product / service requirements; assist with identifying vendors; manage RFx process and evaluations; provide vendor evaluation framework; and make recommendations on vendor selection. Always have a point of view which is rooted in data and your experience.
  • Act as an advocate for the function, a ‘sounding board’ for the CPO and an unfailingly reliable collaborator among your peers.

Who You Are:

  • You have an understanding of Procurement practices - but also an equally strong understanding of when to bend those practices if the business need calls for it.
  • You are a tireless advocate for Procurement and do not allow complication to derail you from showing others what Procurement ‘can’ be. You don’t mind the spotlight and the hard conversations. ‘Good’ isn’t good enough for you.
  • You are a Servant Leader and committed doing whatever it takes to empower and enable your team. You hold your team members accountable to high performance, with an insistence that we always improve and never get too comfortable.
  • You are a source of positivity who believes ‘it can be done’ and who demonstrates the ability to focus on what is important.
  • You are unphased by uncertainty and see it as opportunity. You don’t need to understand everything in order to operate.
  • You walk the talk. And you champion the success of others, knowing that when a peer wins, we all win.
  • Prefer 10+ years of Procurement experience, preferably including deep exposure to Technology (Software/SaaS) stacks and suppliers. You have managed a global portfolio and multiple divisions within a company.
  • Prefer 3+ years managing teams of people, with a proven track record of developing high performing talent.
  • Bachelor’s in business/finance or related field; or equivalent related professional experience.
  • A plus if you have a Master’s degree or post-graduate degree or related field; or equivalent related professional experience and/or certification (MCIPS, CPSM, etc)

This is often a ‘working manager’ role and requires the right candidate to ‘roll up their sleeves’ to get things done. To achieve this, the right candidate must also have:

  • Excellent functioning (computer/analytical) skills - specifically Microsoft suite, with Excel, etc. Strong analytical, process and collaboration skills to resolve business problems.
  • Outstanding verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven results as a team leader and you possess the ability to drive and meet deadlines, often under pressure.
  • Comfort working with all levels/departments and with interdepartmental project teams.
  • A customer-service attitude and a willingness to consider different approaches based on what’s best for EG.
