What you’ll do:

  • You will lead an org of efficient senior developers and people leaders based in two locations: Gurgaon and Kochi, in implementing high-quality applications to support the delivery and deployment of new business functionality

  • You will work closely with partners and Product Managers to influence product strategy and resolve the product development roadmap. Provide planning support for the technology roadmap

  • Anticipate and recognize bottlenecks in work processes between teams and make suggestions for ongoing improvement

  • Act as a spokesperson for software design standard methodologies - researching and recommending frameworks and architectural/code design patterns

  • Mentor team members and advocate for quality coding and optimal processes

  • Build broad knowledge of the entire product and Expedia Group's languages, frameworks, cloud services, toolkits, and methodologies enabling you to help with any component or type of issue

  • Estimate resources and identify risks to achieve project goals.

  • Share domain and industry knowledge between multi-functional teams

Process Improvement:

  • You will identify the interrelatedness of work activities across teams and recommend improvements to processes to increase effectiveness

  • You will remove team barriers to implementing new ideas or approaches by securing the necessary resources or support from senior management

  • You will ensure process improvement initiatives focus on measurable results, and help teams establish measures of success.

Product Development Lifecycle:

  • You will manage and lead the product development lifecycle to reduce time to market, improve product quality, and ensure product success.

Collaboration:

  • You will partner with leaders across all EG to collaboratively solve problems.

  • You will support and inform EG leaders via a community of practice and product reviews.

  • You will build relationships with leaders across the organization to understand business problems and apply a technology lens to solve them.

Application Development/Programming:

  • You will identify areas for improvement and develop innovative enhancements using available software development tools following the design requirements of the customer.

  • You will advocate for designing software that is scalable, resilient, and stable.

  • You will make decisions on product technology direction based on deep subject matter knowledge.

  • You will be well-versed/has up-to-date knowledge in EG's languages, frameworks, cloud services, toolkits, and methodologies.

Innovation:

  • You will notice inefficiencies in procedures across teams or inefficient use of teams. Indicate technology areas of improvement at the brand level. You have a strong base knowledge of the group you are a member of.

Technical Communications:

  • You will present work for upcoming planned efforts and enumerate risks and opportunities associated with those efforts. Demonstrate urgency for concept projects to management without overpromising.

Resource Planning and Optimization:

  • You will review the skill and expertise requirements across the department or multiple teams and ensure that enough people are trained or cross-trained to achieve work goals.

  • You will create contingency resource plans to ensure continuity of work processes in the face of a delay or shortage in financial/material resources.

  • You will recognize and reward appropriate resource utilization and creative suggestions to gain efficiency in resource usage.

  • You will ensure an optimal Full Time Employee to contingent worker ratios and optimal location strategy are maintained across several teams and the overall organization.

Build and Develop Individual and Team Talent:

  • You will identify and mentor critical talent within the subdivision.

  • You will combine and share knowledge and skills in more than one functional area to promote efficiency in the department or business unit/function.

  • You will place individuals in roles and assignments that stretch their capabilities and contribute to their personal and career development whilst facilitating cross-team and cross-divisional movement of talent as a tool for building skills, and capabilities, and creating visibility to talent.

  • You will identify team educational and training needs and develop programs or recruit specialists to meet those training needs.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s in a related technical field; or Equivalent related professional experience

  • Have at least 12 years of experience in the software development industry with more than 5 years of leadership experience

  • Equivalent experience includes:

    • Managed at least an org of 3 Senior Managers (manager of managers) and executed capacity planning/allocation for a team size of 30+.

    • You have built a strategy and driven a roadmap for a multi-product, cross-functional program across multiple years.

    • Led development and improvement of multiple tier-1 services.

  • You have strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for several technical domains and choices recommended in a team and then implementation involving several technologies.

  • You have presented new technology choices to technical and non-technical observers.

  • You are an expert in multiple domains.

  • You guide others to make well-defined technical choices and are an expert in multiple domains.

  • You have built strong teams by mentoring managers to empower team members. You have also mentored employees outside of your direct organization.

  • You have defined team goals to solve a business need across an entire business unit.

  • You have delivered solutions to business problems spanning a business unit.

  • Collaborating closely with the product team you have delivered and influenced across multiple teams spanning a business unit.
