We are looking for a dynamic and strategic self-starter to play a leading role in driving the risk management strategy for our insurance and fintech products purchase by travelers globally. This is a highly visible, strategic role with the opportunity to make a transformative impact on Expedia’s InsurTech business. Your deep understanding of insurance risk management and business value drivers will accelerate near and long-term performance!

What you’ll do:

  • Partner with business, treasury, finance, actuarial, legal, accounting, and tax teams to drive the risk structure, direction, and management for InsurTech

  • Develop risk management strategies that balance growth, exposure and cost levers

  • Lead the feasibility study, design, development, and implementation of a captive for InsurTech

  • Lead financial business plan and model development to enable investment decisions related to risk management

  • Ensure compliance with established policies (investment, underwriting, regulations, etc.) for ongoing business and captive operations

  • Lead ongoing oversight and reporting across risk management structures (e.g., captive operations) to ensure utilization to full potential

  • Manage relationships with third party insurance and reinsurance partner organizations as relevant

Who You Are:

  • Minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience across insurance risk management and captives

  • Advanced degree in business, finance, economics, risk management, insurance, or other relevant courses

  • Proven track record of thinking strategically, using sound business judgement, and driving business results

  • Experience in defining and assessing investment and risk opportunities

  • Passion for using structure, data, and creativity to drive better decision-making 

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills to, as this position will involve frequent, direct interaction with senior executives

  • Biased to drive action with a voracious get-it-done attitude
