Legal Counsel (Commercial Contracts)

Expedia Group is looking for a Legal Counsel to lead the legal support function for our multi-billion dollar Private Label Solutions (PLS) division in APAC. Based in Singapore, you will provide strategic legal support to Expedia’s B2B business - a fast-paced global sales organization providing travel technology solutions to partners across the globe. This role reports to Director, Legal based in London.

What you’ll do:

You will support the regional VP, Senior Directors and their organisation by;

  • Being the primary escalation point for new business contract requests, drafting and negotiating complex cross-border transactions with sales teams globally

  • Amending, terminating, and interpreting existing agreements, including advising senior stakeholders on strategic partnerships.

  • Supporting the management and development of standard forms and their integration into contract management systems.

  • Supporting several high-performing business organisations on a range of issues including contract interpretation, product implementation, internal standards and practices, risk management, insolvencies, changes in law and regulatory risk.

  • Partnering with colleagues in the wider legal team as well as those in tax, product, customer support and finance to deliver solutions and drive the business forward.

  • Supporting new business and legal initiatives.

  • Working with outside counsel; providing ad hoc advice where needed by interpreting often complex local law advice to Sales teams in a commercial and easy-to-understand way; effectively handling outside counsel budget.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree, ideally from a common-law jurisdiction

  • At least 3 years’ experience with a top regional or national law firm or working in a dynamic in-house legal environment (or equivalent related professional experience)·

  • A self-starter who is keen to dive into a range of complex legal matters

  • Experienced with commercial transactions, you are comfortable balancing legal risk and commercial objectives

  • You have a can-do attitude and are keen to learn and develop

  • You possess excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and work ethic

  • You have a consistent record of building strong relationships with colleagues and business clients
