Expedia Group is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist to join our Search Data Science team. In this role, you will develop data-driven solutions and machine learning models that bring intelligence to various personalization aspects of our products for Search. You will contribute to highly visible features on our websites with direct impact to our travelers. What you’ll do:

• You will build end-to-end design of one step models based on detailed understanding of business requirements, including general approach, choice of algorithm and data sources

• You will adapt and modify existing advanced models, techniques, and algorithms to suit specific business needs

• You will solve a broad range of problems by applying theoretical and advanced statistical methods

• You will write code in a way that enables efficient and accurate translation into a data pipeline

• You will apply data visualization principles consistently resulting in clear and consistent outcomes

• You will proactively contribute to cross team collaboration and lead alignment of work with broader initiatives tailoring messaging to audience and filters relevant communication.Collaborate with peers within and across teams, bearing team and company goals in mind

• You will manage stakeholders with frequent communication and expectation management, meeting deadlines and minimizing surprises

Who you are:

• Bachelor's, Master’s, PhD degree in a technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in building machine learning models in the industry

• Worked in at least in 1 long term projects that span several quarters

• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of modern machine learning theory and techniques

• Have solid theoretical foundation, applies advanced statistical methods to a broad range of problems

• Demonstrate significant experience in Python programming language and related machine learning tools. Familiar with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and SQL-like query languages for data extraction, transformation, and loading

• Strong experience in application in an industrial setting and crafting robust solutions after a few iterations

• Effective written and verbal communication skills

The total cash range for this position in Austin is $128,500 to $180,000. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $205,500 , which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $118,000 to $165,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $189,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $128,500.00 to $180,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $205,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
