Engineering Manager - Front-End

We are seeking a creative Software Engineer to create and grow leading products for Hotel Partners using data and technology.

We power the industry-leading revenue management tools for hotels and vacation rental. With a combination of vast market data and predictive Data-Science models, we provide insights to our hotel partners which allows them to optimize their pricing via our web applications and partner-facing APIs. If you join us, your key challenge would be to implement engaging user experiences for our Revenue Management solution that can serve all our Vacation Rental as well as Hotel Partner businesses.

What you will do:

  • Identify areas where efficiency and process improvement are needed.

  • Apply new ideas or approaches to enhance team outputs.

  • Use established tools and techniques to track progress related to implementing process improvements.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the product development lifecycle from idea generation to bringing a product to market by supporting the different phases and improving product performance.

  • Engage with peers across the organization to build an understanding of cross dependencies, priorities, and opportunities to simplify.

  • Participate in a community of practice and/or product reviews to share and gain knowledge.

  • Test and maintain software applications and related programs and procedures by using a variety of software development tools following design requirements of customer.

  • Act as a spokesperson for software design best practices - researching and recommending frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.

  • Identify areas of improvements within the code and suggests solutions.

  • Advocate for operational excellence (such as unit testing, establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).

  • Ensure that operational teams and subcontractors have a clear understanding of customer requirements; identify technical issues and provide data to support solutions.

  • Consider new ways of using technology to meet or enhance customers’ needs.

  • Remain informed on industry trends.  Examine inefficiencies in the existing stack operation and encourage engineers to improve them.

  • Bridge the gap in discussions between technology and non-technology personnel. Report on team status faithfully and listen for suggestions to improve lagging project work.

  • Evaluate current team projects or goals and identify the relevant skills and expertise needed to accomplish them.

  • Plan for and distribute necessary resources to ensure accomplishment of team goals.

  • Track resource use to ensure minimal waste and reduce duplication of efforts.

  • Guide employees in the development of individual goals, provide regular and specific feedback, and assesses performance.

  • Encourage and support education and professional development of employees.

  • Mentor employees by providing advice and recommendations based on your own experience and learnings.

  • Evaluate how individuals work together as a team to achieve goals.  Provide a culture that supports team in the achievement of goal.

  • Find and hire the right talents to build and expand your team - lead recruitment process.
     

Who you are:

  • Leading (formally) least at 3 multi-quarter projects and having participated in peer’s performance evaluations by providing technical assessment and feedback.

  • Strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for the technical domain; identify strengths and weaknesses among languages and select among available technology to implement and solve for need.

  • Understand when and how to reward and recognize team members.

  • Act as a mentor for individual contributors on a team.

  • Defined team goals and how they fit a business need - working as an enabler for the team to then meet these goals.

  • Delivered solutions to business problems at the project level.

  • Collaborating closely with the product team you have delivered a product roadmap.

  • Deep understanding of web development using React, TypeScript, GraphQL, NodeJS.

  • Proven experience in cloud platform services and architecture e.g. AWS.

  • Full knowledge of continuous deployment and integration cycles.

  • Experience with agile development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, and you'll thrive working in an agile environment.
