QA Lead

At Expedia, we believe in helping millions of travelers find their perfect vacation or getaway. Shopping Experience are part of the Product & Technology team in Expedia. As the QA Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products.

Working with the Program and QA Manager, the QA Team in India and key stakeholders within Shopping Experience and Expedia, including the Expedia Quality Centre of Excellence - you will be responsible forgathering requirements and identifying gapsand translating this into a clear strategy for quality.

What you will do:

  • Continuously assess and improve the software testing process by incorporating industry best practices and emerging testing methodologies to optimize efficiency and effectiveness. Create a high-quality testing culture.

  • Foster effective communication channels with development teams and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of requirements, issues, and progress updates. Work closely with Expedia’s QCE team on priorities and to recommend frameworks and architectural/code design patterns.

  • Listen to teams’ concerns and issues regarding technology and look to resolve their needs.

  • Advocate for user experience testing and ensure that the software meets the highest standards of usability and customer satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, product management, and quality assurance, to define test objectives, scope, and testing strategies for different projects.

  • Lead the testing effort by coordinating test activities, assigning tasks to team members, and monitoring progress to meet project timelines and deliverables. Execute tests, analyze results, and document defects and issues in a clear and organized manner.

  • Identify opportunities for test automation and work with the automation team to develop and maintain automated test scripts, enhancing test coverage and efficiency.

  • Define and track key quality metrics to assess the overall health of the software and provide regular status reports to stakeholders, highlighting test progress, test coverage, and defect trends.

  • Conduct risk analysis and prioritize testing efforts based on potential impact and likelihood of defects. Collaborate with the team to mitigate risks and improve software quality.

  • Mentor and guide a team of software testers, providing technical expertise, support, and continuous professional development to enhance their skills and knowledge.

  • Influence quality best practices and building quality into all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle for early detection and resolution of defects.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in software testing, with a focus on leading test efforts and teams.

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and best practices.

  • Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking systems.

  • Proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks.

  • Solid knowledge of different software development life cycle models (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall) and experience tailoring testing approaches to suit each model.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Outstanding leadership abilities with a track record of successfully leading and motivating teams.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

  • ISTQB or other relevant software testing certifications are a plus.
