Senior Communications Manager

This Senior Communications Manager will work closely with Expedia Group’s Finance team in identifying communications strategy and development of materials for our global finance employees. The person in this role will work closely with the CFO and Finance Leadership Team to build comprehensive strategies that turn complex information into streamlined, clear, credible content that influences employee sentiment and behavior. As someone with strong business acumen and an understanding of financial concepts, this person will partner with the global finance leadership team and the corporate communications team to enhance and amplify Expedia Group’s business narrative.

What you'll do:

  • The Senior Communications Manager for the Finance function at Expedia Group will be central in creating and implementing comprehensive communications strategies that turn complex and/or high volumes of information into streamlined, clear, credible content that speaks to its intended audience’s values and needs

  • This role will lead a broad range of internal communications activities that include finding creative ways to tell our stories to employees, managers, top leaders, and external groups

  • The qualified candidate will also work closely with partners to help ensure clarity and precision hallmarks of all internal communication

  • Develop relationships with partners across Expedia Group, including senior leaders, and work closely with them to develop internal communications campaigns and advise on thought leadership opportunities

  • Lead the content strategy for global, finance initiatives, and implement this strategy to create content that attracts, engages, informs, and delights employees in a range of formats

  • Build a deep understanding of our audience’s needs and preferences, and our business’ priorities. Use this understanding to counsel and influence partners to play it safe or make bold moves with content as needed

  • Research, develop, and maintain editorial calendars spanning our channels, audiences, and key campaigns

  • Exercise creative thinking to execute a story-telling strategy under which other key campaigns can ladder up for global employee audience

  • Support executive communications for key Expedia Group leaders in the finance function, including development of quarterly town halls, company-wide communications and content for presentations, events, and social media

  • Ensure all content is approved, on-brand, and consistent in terms of style, quality, and tone of voice

  • Report on and assess measurable analytics

  • Participate actively in the wider Expedia Group communications community, developing, and sharing standard methodologies for employee communications, leading by example and proactively seeking opportunities to align messaging

Who you are:

  • 6+ years of Employee/Internal Communications experience in a corporate or agency environment; travel and/or tech industry experience preferred

  • 4+ years of experience working closely with executive or leadership roles, particularly in highly innovative, fast-moving environments, with a proven record of results

  • Curious, forward-thinking, and driven puzzle solver thrives on collaboration, clarity of purpose, authenticity, and positivity

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills including the ability to represent Expedia Group’s business at the highest levels 

  • Passion for building process and structure to optimize execution of day-to-day work and scheduled tasks

  • Ability to coordinate, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and solve problems

  • Outstanding project management, relationship building, stakeholder management, and social skills

  • Ability to be flexible and to handle multiple projects in an organized, timely manner

  • Ability to synthesize data into logical conclusions and recommendations

  • Comfortable with intense, passionate working environments, and tight deadlines

  • Self-guided, creative, responsible, high-energy, eager to work with other departments independently

  • Experience in highly matrixed organizations a plus

  • Extensive portfolio demonstrating a solid track record of creative and strategic storytelling; a focus on writing and editing is essential, with work with financial communications preferred
