Senior Manager, Agile Coach

The Senior Manager, Agile Coach reporting to the Director, Agile Center of Excellence and Engineering Productivity resides within the P&T Enablement Office of the Expedia Product & Technology division at Expedia Group. This team focuses on driving strategic outcomes by enhancing program delivery, operational excellence, and decision-making transparency through robust insights, metrics, collaboration and tools. By leveraging expertise in agile delivery, portfolio, program and project management, communication, collaboration, workforce insights, and business rhythms, this role ensures seamless execution and impactful outcomes.

In this role, you will:

  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with teams and cross-functional groups to enhance Agile adoption and deliver high-performing results.

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through Agile coaching.

  • Based on team dynamics and requirements assist in selection of Agile frameworks (Scrum,Kanban).

  • Establish and promote best practices for Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement, focusing on team accountability and goal achievement.

  • Support teams in defining acceptance criteria, Definition of Done (DoD), Definition of Ready (DoR), and refining stories at different levels of planning.

  • Help teams articulate "why" behind Agile, enabling deeper understanding and buy-in.

  • Organize and facilitate Scrum of Scrums meetings to coordinate inter-team dependencies, discuss roadblocks, and ensure effective communication and collaboration among teams.

  • Work closely with teams to identify potential risks and issues that may impact project delivery, encouraging proactive identification and resolution.

  • Analyze existing workflows and implement improvements to streamline processes and increase efficiencies.

  • Ensure use of Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence) is aligned with organizational standards and best practices

  • Promote psychological safety within teams, creating an environment where individuals can share ideas and raise concerns without fear of retaliation.

  • Act as a protector and advocate for the Agile Manifesto and its values and principles.

  • Support in standardization and centralization through the Agile Center of Excellence.

  • Show up as a team with other Agile Coaches.

  • Support the design enhancement and training of others in the use of Agile tools and practices.

  • Support Engineering productivity and metrics and KPIs to measure Agile maturity and team performance.

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Agile trends and continuously integrate best practices into coaching methods.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years, with at least 5 years as an Agile Coach working with mid to large enterprises and multiple teams simultaneously.

  • Deep understanding and practical experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, and Scrum@Scale.

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing Agile practices and driving organizational transformation.

  • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and foster collaboration across all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating Agile ceremonies, guiding teams through Agile processes, and delivering results.

  • Ability to tailor coaching methods based on team dynamics, ensuring alignment with team and organizational needs.

  • Experience working with global, cross-functional Agile teams in large-scale organizations.

  • Strong facilitation skills including development of content.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly ambiguous environment where priorities shift rapidly.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify effective solutions.

  • Effective influence, collaboration, and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software engineering practices.

  • Knowledge and experience as a project and/or program manager (technical or non-technical)

  • Proficiency with Agile tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Project management tools and Microsoft Office .

  • Experience with organizational change management and scaling Agile practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience; Master's degree preferred.

  • Recognition in the industry as an agile coach

  • Agile certifications and coaching certifications.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $173,000.00 to $242,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $277,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
