Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

We are looking for a technology leader to help drive the developer experience of the Conversation Platform. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, self-starter and fast-growing potential individual to be part of a growing team of technologists. This team values “can-do” individuals and technology enthusiasts who view learning modern technologies as a fun experience.

As a leader, you will bring good excellent technology evangelism, developer education, community building, and adoption acceleration principles and expertise to the group. In addition, you will mentor new developer evangelists, developer educators, software engineers, and technical writers to learn the developer experience best practices. You will work with the Engineering Leaders, Product Owners, and Technical Program Managers to deliver the content, value, and hands-on expertise to internal and external developers worldwide.

What you’ll do:

  • You will lead the development and maintenance of quick start guides, samples, demos, apps and other developer productivity tools and enablers for different platform services

  • You will lead the community building and developer support programs

  • You will lead the developer evangelism programs attending and presenting at conferences, tech days, workshops and partnering with developers where necessary

  • You will contribute to and provide feedback on APIs, SDKs, product functionality through hands-on development, community discussions and running/organizing alpha and beta programs

  • You will determine different phase milestones and priorities in collaboration with your product and engineering peers

  • You will lead implementation teams and ensure the successful execution of innovative ideas or different approaches

  • You will review the skill and expertise requirements to accomplish team goals and identify staffing and talent resources to fill project roles

  • You will develop action plans for optimal resource utilization and manage resource usage among team

  • You will engage outside of direct organization and collaborate with peers across a senior level organization 

  • You will contribute to product development by identifying industry changes, listening to customer needs, capturing feedback, and communicating that feedback to the business

  • You will guide employees and managers in the development of team and individual goals, providing regular and specific feedback, and assessing individual and team performance

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science; or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

  • An established People Leader who leads a team of Engineers

  • Equivalent experience includes:

  • Recruited 5+ engineers into own team

  • Managed by at least 3 individual contributors

  • Managed individuals across various locations

  • You have strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for multiple technical domains, justifying technology choices to technical and non-technical observers

  • You have acted as a mentor to both individual contributors and managers on your own teams

  • You have defined team goals and how they fit a business need across multiple teams working together – working as an enabler for multiple teams to then achieve these goals

  • You have delivered solutions to business problems spanning teams

  • Collaborating closely with the product team you have delivered and influenced a product roadmap

  • Experience in building and maintaining Jamstack based sites

  • Experience building full-stack applications with React, Node.js, Java, AWS, etc.

  • Solid knowledge of modern web standards and technologies (ES6, CSS/Sass, HTML 5, etc.)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Preferred: React, Redux, CSS/Sass, HTML 5, D3, JavaScript, Node.js, Express, Markdown

  • Preferred: AWS (or similar Cloud platform), GIT, Docker, Splunk, Jenkins/Bamboo (modern build systems), Java
