Senior PR Specialist, Germany Media Relations, Expedia Group Brands (Expedia and FeWo-direkt)
The Senior Media Relations Specialist for Expedia Brands (Expedia and FeWo-direkt) in Germany will be responsible for working directly with media to drive locally relevant, highly engaging PR activities which resonate strongly with the local audience. They will work closely with stakeholders within the company to shape Expedia Brands’ narrative in Germany and to drive the two distinct Expedia Brands to new heights within the market. They will act as an invaluable consultant for the wider team on key German PR campaigns, areas of sensitivity and local cultural nuances.
As the Media Relations lead for this market, they will possess a strong network of media contacts and a keen eye for developing stories and initiatives which will gain the attention of both the media and the great German public.
They will be based in London or Germany, reporting to the Head of Media Relations EMEA for Expedia Brands and work closely with the wider global Brand PR, EMEA Media Relations and Social Media teams. They will have experience in an agency and/or business as well as possessing a can-do attitude, be self-driven, and able to learn quickly.

What you’ll do:
Regularly interact with media, including online, print, radio, and television outlets, to secure stand out coverage for the Expedia Brands in Germany
Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated communications plans that support Expedia Brands’ objectives, providing regular strategic media insights to internal teams
Responsible for the development of market media relations strategy across earned, owned, and paid channels within PR’s remit
Optimize and prioritize execution of media relations strategy, including media targets, media contact cadence, brand prioritization, etc.
Responsible for development of PR editorial/activity calendars for region / market / brand
Manage and influence internal stakeholders and partners at a senior level as you project manage communication initiatives to ensure the strongest stories are told with appropriate use of resources
Use data and insights to inform storytelling to support business initiatives
Help to manage reactive PR issues that influence perceptions of the brands and the greater Expedia Group business
Media relations advisor to partner PR agencies
Manage press trips and media events
Responsible for monitoring all industry and competitor media coverage, including managing coverage reports, drafting status reports, and providing business event progress and reports as they occur
Help to define metrics and identify KPIs for media relations activity and PR campaigns
Who you are:
Proven 5+ years' experience in a media relations or PR role in a consumer agency environment
Strong experience in German media relations possessing key consumer media contacts across print, online and broadcast media outlets. Existing relationships in lifestyle, consumer, technology and travel is preferred
Exceptional teambuilding and interpersonal skills – including the ability to represent Expedia Group at the highest levels internally and externally
Ability to manage changing requirements as well as having outstanding project management and organizational skills
Excellent written and communication skills
Ability to synthesize data into logical conclusions and recommendations to uncover unique storytelling opportunities for the three Expedia brands
Ability to think creatively and adapt quickly to match the travel landscape
Able to handle fast-paced environments, with quick-turn timelines
Social media and influencer experience preferred
Consumer product and/or travel industry experience preferred
Demonstrated experience in highly matrixed organizations a plus
Fluent German and English speaker
