The Senior Accountant reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and will primarily be responsible for providing fixed asset accounting support to Expedia’s operational and accounting teams. We perform monthly accounting duties such as processing asset additions through the sub-ledger, journal entries, account reconciliation and analysis. Other areas of our responsibilities include monthly financial statement analysis, quarterly audit schedules, and supporting tax and statutory reporting needs.

What you'll do:

  • Responsible for month end close including prepare and process recurring journals, identify and process non-recurring journals

  • Handle Balance Sheet account reconciliations, independently research exceptions, identify reconciling items and resolve issues in accordance with company policy

  • Provide fluctuation analysis for assigned expense and balance sheet accounts for various comparative time periods

  • Prepare reports and schedules as required for audits as requested by the statutory team

  • Produce schedules and summary presentations for business decisions and ad hoc requests

  • Provide support for SOX compliance and company policies

  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and priorities for the accounting function

  • Participate in non-routine projects such process re-engineering, cross functional projects, reconciliation issues, system implementations, etc.

  • Take ownership of process improvements, document business processes and assess current processes for efficiency

  • Provide support to business partners across the world wide organization

  • Find opportunities and make recommendations to streamline and gain efficiencies

Who you are:

  • Have solid corporate accounting experience

  • Have effective oral and written communications

  • Oracle financial systems preferred

  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Proficiency with pivot tables and formulae in Excel required

  • Experience with foreign currency entries a plus

  • A real team mate who effectively interacts with peers and business partners across the company

  • Ability to work directly with business partners and run meetings independently

  • Excellent time management skills and able to juggle with conflicting deadlines

  • Proactive in problem solving and issues resolution. Driven to complete activities on time and draw issues to closure

  • Flexible in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment and customer focused

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to identify and analyze complex issues, focus on relevant information, understand and utilizes metrics relevant to role

  • Ability to balance macro and micro views and apply to problem solving as well as reporting and fluctuation analysis

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3+ years accounting experience.

The total cash range for this position in Springfield is $61,500.00 to $86,000.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $98,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
