Vice President Corporate Development

In this critical role, you will be a leader within Expedia Group’s Corporate Development & Strategy team. The team leads the charge to identify areas of profitable expansion working closely with our CEO, CFO (formerly head of Corp Dev & Strategy) and executive leadership. The team overall drives (1) Expedia Group's inorganic transactions spanning mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic investments (2) Corporate strategy efforts including annual strategic planning and other complex, company-wide strategy projects. You will shape and lead work across both fronts.

The successful candidate will be a highly accountable leader, with a strategic and synchronized perspective, extraordinary stakeholder management and leadership skills, coupled with intellectual curiosity to identify new ideas and challenge the status quo. You will have a passion for solving complex and strategically important business problems in an agile environment, displaying dedication, as well as an ambition for innovative thinking. You will be relationship-oriented and have a passion for collaborating across the organization to understand business needs whilst setting and representing a truly holistic Expedia Group vision.

What you’ll do:

  • Formulating and Executing Expedia Group’s Global acquisition strategy
  • Generating acquisition strategies and themes both independently and in coordination with Expedia’s business unit leaders
  • Establish and lead a robust and comprehensive process to identify and evaluate potential opportunities, which includes a rigorous idea generation and screening process
  • Leading the due diligence and deal execution process, including:
    • negotiating principal transaction terms
    • managing team members in financial modeling, valuation analysis and company/industry due diligence
    • coordinating internal functional experts along with outside advisors in due diligence, deal structuring, and transaction document negotiations
  • Producing investment recommendation materials for review by Expedia’s board and senior corporate executives
  • Leading Expedia’s corporate strategic planning process and individual strategy projects
  • Working with the CEO and CFO to define long range corporate level strategic and financial objectives
  • Guiding business unit leaders through the development of long range strategic plans
  • Assessing business unit strategic plans and developing a corporate view on portfolio-wide gaps and opportunities
  • Leading targeted strategy projects
    • Collaborate across functions during the annual Strat planning process to ensure that long-term strategies are woven into actionable annual plans.

Who you are:

  • Rounded leader in a variety of analytical and strategic, high-visibility finance roles.
  • Proven track record in driving excellence in financial planning and insight whilst being experienced in delivering robust financial plans which empowers high performing businesses to grow value.
  • True commercial finance business partner, with curiosity and strategic mindset to understand and drive decision making.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills. Proficiency in advanced Excel and financial modeling.
  • Proven situational leadership skills and the ability to motivate and generate enthusiasm with individuals across all levels of the organization.
  • Large scale program management ability to drive solutions across a global organization with multiple functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of flexibility and accountability, in a constantly fast-evolving environment.
