Black Expedia Allied Movement, called BEAM for short, works to cultivate the contributions of the Black community within Expedia Group while empowering all employees to educate, advocate, collaborate, and pay it forward. We are a group of over 600 Black people and allies who are excited to raise awareness and amplify the incredible work being done by our Black colleagues across levels. As a group, BEAM was inspired this year to speak more to collaboration and to also find more ways of being impactful not just internally but also within our local communities.

This month’s activities included a professional skills workshop in collaboration with Code2College, which is an organization BEAM has worked closely with for years. Code2College is a multi-year, career prep and college access program that leverages volunteer technical talent to teach coding and web development skills to underrepresented students to support them through college and into STEM careers. We’ve also highlighted personal journeys of Black Expedians, sharing their career journeys including challenges and triumphs. We’ve had various trivia and chapter events to promote education and will be finishing off the month with an empowering panel discussion. The discussion will feature co-authors Jacqueline Adams and Bonita Stewart -A Blessing: Women of Color Teaming up to Lead, Empower, and Thrive along with two incredible women within the Expedia Community, Zuhairah Washington, SVP, Strategic Accounts and Beverly Anderson, EG Board Member.

As BEAM reflected on all the ways in which we could make an impact beyond just this month’s events we wanted to continue to spotlight and champion Black Owned Businesses. There are so many incredible Black Owned Businesses within the world and a full list available for all employees but below we highlight a few great ones within the Wellness and Travel space.
