Discover EG with Davide Corradi: Global SEO Senior Manager

‘Discover EG’ is a benefit that encourages employees to work from our Expedia Group offices around the world, for up to two weeks per year (self-funded). Using this program, Global SEO Senior Manager, Davide Corradi, has set himself a challenge: to visit all of our 80+ offices, worldwide.

After joining EG’s London office in 2015, Davide has worked from an impressive 22 offices so far. We caught up with him to find out about these experiences, and what life at Expedia Group is like, globally.

Davide Corradi, Global SEO Manager, Chicago, IL, USA

Office visits

I am originally from Italy, and joined Expedia Group in 2015, based in the London, UK, office. In 2019, I had the opportunity to move to Chicago, USA, where I’ve lived since. Although I’ve been based in two different offices, we have more than 80 offices around the world. My goal is to visit them all before I retire. Here are the offices I’ve checked off the list, so far:

Amman, Jordan | Bangkok, Thailand | Chicago, USA | Copenhagen, Denmark | Gurgaon, India | London, UK | Los Angeles, USA | Madrid, Spain | Miami, USA | Milan, Italy | New York City, USA | Paris, France | Rome, Italy | San Diego, USA | San Francisco, USA | Seattle, USA | Stockholm, Sweden | Tokyo, Japan

Let’s start with your local office. What do you like about it?

I am an “office person,” so I go to the office 4-5 days a week. Luckily for me, both my local offices (London for 4 years and now Chicago) are amazing. The London office is in an incredible location in Angel and boasts one of the best rooftops you can dream of. The Chicago office in downtown has tons of cool perks such as free snacks, fruit, and – being Italian – my favorite: lots of great coffee machines.

Why did you decide to visit so many EG offices?

Being able to work from our different offices is by far my favorite EG benefit. I’ve visited offices for meetings, and workshops, but sometimes simply because travel is one of my greatest passions (how convenient, working for THE travel company, right?) I’ve taken advantage of EG having so many offices around the world by extending my stay in cities to “live like a local.” Aside from meeting local colleagues and getting the best local tips, working from a different city lets you enjoy the local culture and feel more connected to the place. Also, meeting colleagues you might have been working with remotely makes the everyday working experience better.

One of the best experiences I’ve had visiting our offices was a couple of years ago when I went on a road trip from Seattle to San Diego. Since we have so many offices on the West Coast, I did some “office hopping”, staying and working for a few days in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

What are some similarities you have noticed across the offices, globally?

Obviously, with offices and colleagues in so many different parts of the world, with different cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives, you are exposed to a variety of working styles and approaches. And thinking about it, this is a beautiful thing. But in all the EG offices I’ve been to, no matter where, I’ve noticed the same pride in working for a company that believes travel is a force for good. Our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere, and this ambition is clearly shared, accepted and encouraged in every single office, globally.

Where’s next on the list?

Next year, I’d love to spend some time working from the Austin office, a place everyone has told me great things about. And since Chicago’s winters are amazing but tend to be quite cold, I might spend a week or working from some of the offices we have in Mexico.

Career experience at Expedia Group

Tell us about your team and role.

I work in the SEO team (and am loving it), which is focused on connecting travelers with the best landing page experience to help them research and book their trips with confidence. The SEO team, inclusive of Operations, Technical SEO, Content Strategy, and Automation, Experimentation, Insights & Testing, aims to continually increase Expedia Group’s visibility and organic traffic from search engines to drive high-value traveler acquisition. Specifically, I work within the Operations team, and among other things, I am in charge of the organic performance of our Vrbo brand.

What is your proudest achievement at EG so far?

It goes back a few years. It’s when I proposed, planned and project managed the launch of the “alternative accommodation” landing pages (think of B&Bs, cabins, motels, apartments, hostels). They didn’t exist on Expedia Group before, we only had general hotel pages. Since their launch, they have become one of the most profitable page types for several different channels, including but not limited to SEO.

Why would you recommend a career at EG?

It is a great company to work for, with fantastic benefits. No matter the team you work with, you are bound to be exposed to a variety of disciplines and collaborate with numerous teams, from marketing to technology, from PR to product, across different regions. It’s a very exciting and creative place to be. But if I had to choose one thing, at the risk of sounding cheesy and predictable, I’d say the people. Here, I have met incredible people who have become close friends.

Benefit Overview: Discover EG

The ‘Discover EG’ program enables employees to explore our worldwide offices for up to two weeks per year outside their country (up to four weeks inside their country). Employees make the most of this program for vacations: employees often stay additional days to work from a nearby office, making new EG connections, and then exploring the city in the evenings. For business trips: employees visiting another office for business purposes already, also stay for additional time to explore the area. And for exploration: employees may have friends and family close to an existing EG office location or may be wanting to explore a new city, without using their paid time off (Note: Discover EG travel expenses are self-funded by employees).
