What excites you about Expedia Group and what brought you here?
I was very selective in where I wanted to work next, and Expedia Group truly aligned with what I was looking for in a new role for several reasons.
- Resilience and Strength: Expedia Group has demonstrated its resilience and strength through various challenges, emerging stronger and more adaptable.
- Impact and Innovation: The chance to make a real impact on such a dynamic company, especially under the leadership of Arianne Gorin (CEO) and Christine Deputy (CPO), is incredibly motivating. Their vision for the future excites me, and it aligns perfectly with my own goals.
- Company Culture: The focus on teamwork and mutual respect fosters a collaborative and inclusive environment, and the emphasis on flexibility allows for a healthy work-life balance, which is so important to me.
- Travel Industry Passion: Travel is very near and dear to my heart. Last year, I managed to travel to 12 different countries, so the opportunity to work in this exciting industry is a major plus.
Ultimately, Expedia Group offers the perfect combination of a dynamic work environment, strong leadership, and a focus on an industry I love. I’m confident that I can bring my expertise and passion to the table and contribute significantly to the company’s success.
Tell us about your role as Senior Vice President, Global Talent Acquisition?
I oversee our organization’s efforts to attract, hire, and retain top talent worldwide. This encompasses global branding and events, Talent Acquisition operations, internal talent movement, and external hiring across all levels, from early careers and campus recruiting, professional tech, sales, marketing and functions hiring, to executive searches.
Additionally, I manage our external talent strategy, which involves engaging temporary workers and contractors to support our projects and address specific needs such as leave coverage and short term staff augmentation. In essence, my goal is to ensure we have a robust and effective talent acquisition strategy in place to support Expedia Group’s growth and success.
Can you describe your leadership style?
My leadership style is collaborative, inclusive and empowering. I believe in building strong partnerships with my team and working together to co-create our vision and strategy. I emphasize open communication, shared decision-making, and transparency in metrics. I trust my leadership team to make informed decisions and empower them to take ownership of their roles.
Career development and growth are very important to me. I’m committed to providing opportunities for my team members to develop their skills and advance their careers. I also believe in adopting an enterprise mindset, where we consider the broader implications of our decisions for the company and the entire People team.
Finally, I prioritize fostering a positive and supportive work environment. I believe in creating space for fun, community, and connection among my team members.
What is your favorite type of vacation?
My ideal vacation combines my passion for fly fishing with the opportunity to explore new destinations. I love planning trips to countries where I can enjoy a week of fly fishing while also taking time to discover the local culture and scenery.
Some of my favorite fly fishing destinations include Iceland, Argentina, Scotland, and various locations within the United States, such as Idaho and Montana. These trips allow me to enjoy my favorite hobby while experiencing the beauty and diversity of different places.
