Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming several new cohorts of interns to our EG offices across the globe. While they’ve been onboarding, skill-building, connecting with fellow Expedians, and getting started on exciting team projects, we took a moment to hear from a few of them. We got a glimpse into what drives these future leaders, and what they hope to achieve during their time with us.
The Intern Program
Interns at Expedia Group join an inclusive community, while gaining inside experience of how our company operates. Those who part of the program get to network with a wide variety of colleagues, speak directly with our senior leaders, present their project work to stakeholders, and attend impactful learning workshops. Avery Wong | Commercial Intern | Austin, TX, UA
– University of Texas
This past summer, I biked from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to fundraise for cancer research and support services through Texas 4000 for Cancer. This trip ignited my love for travel and exploration, emphasized the importance of creating lasting relationships, and demonstrated the power of a common goal.
Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?
I almost pulled out of the interview process when applying to the Commercial Intern role last fall. Upon receiving the case study assignment for the interview, I let my lack of experience convince me I wasn’t the right candidate for this job. However, when I brought my concerns to EG’s hiring team, I was met with encouragement and support that pushed through my imposter syndrome. I followed through with the interview and am now lucky to call Expedia Group home for the summer. I decided to join EG because the people believed in my potential even I couldn’t see. I chose Expedia Group because I feel empowered and challenged, ready to become a better version of myself.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
By the end of this program, I hope to realize and exceed the potential EG saw in me. I want to create lasting relationships, whether with other EG employees or the partners I talk to every day. I hope to better understand the travel industry and EG through intentional conversations within this company.
Katyayani Jha | Software Development Intern | Gurgaon, India

Being a fiend for all things creative, I have an innate love for art. I can’t wait to expand my horizons at Expedia Group and concoct creative solutions to real-world problems.
Why did I decide to join EG?
My aspirations as a newbie in the industry, are to create something that makes an impact. The learning and opportunities offered to me at this global platform are ones I would travel the world for.
What do I want to achieve by the end of the program?
I want to bridge the gap between my understanding of coding paradigms and their implementations in the real world. To make the most of my time at EG, my goal is to explore its diverse inclusion groups, shadow my team-mates to absorb as many skills as possible and spend my free time getting to know the secret keys of the company; its people.
Hugo Mouton | Software Development Intern | Montreal, Canada

When I have free time, I enjoy running, playing video games, and bothering my two cats. My dream travel destination is Japan, I hope to visit soon and maybe even stay for a while!
Why did you decide to join EG?
I chose Expedia Group to experience life at a large tech company, having previously interned at a startup.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
This internship is an opportunity for me to better understand how big tech organizations function, sharpen my software engineering skills, and build the confidence to take a project from concept to completion.

I love attending live music events, café hopping, and vintage fashion. My favorite travel destinations have to be the UK and Japan! At Expedia Group, I look forward to meeting new people and finding new ways to create an impact.
Why did you decide to join EG?
I’m passionate about the intersections of culture, tech, and business and I’m interested in exploring how cultural nuances and global perspectives drive sustainable business growth and meaningful engagement.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I aim to gain a solid understanding of the travel tech industry and EG’s product suite, broaden my business acumen, and strengthen my communication skills.
Vaibhav Garg | Mobile Engineering Intern | Gurgaon, India

I’m someone who thrives in calm the kind of person who doesn’t panic under pressure, but quietly figures things out, one small piece at a time. I learn by pulling things apart, simplifying them, and then diving deep once I’ve got the basics down. Whether it’s AI, a new tool, or a good recipe I love exploring things fully, especially when I can do something real and impactful.
Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?
There’s something about EG that felt instantly right. It wasn’t just the tech, it was the people-first mindset, a place where curiosity is welcome, mistakes are okay, and inclusion isn’t just a buzzword.
What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I want to walk away having built something that matters even in a small way. I want to explore how EG solves problems at scale, understand how great teams collaborate, and contribute meaningfully to that mission. Oh and pick up stories, lessons, and maybe a few new favorite dishes along the way.
