Over the past few weeks, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming several new cohorts of interns to our EG offices across the globe. While they’ve been onboarding, skill-building, connecting with fellow Expedians, and getting started on exciting team projects, we took a moment to hear from a few of them. We got a glimpse into what drives these future leaders, and what they hope to achieve during their time with us.

Cecilia Qian | Software Development Intern | Seattle, WA, USA

– Northeastern University

I’m passionate about backend development, cloud architecture, and building scalable systems. In my free time, you’ll usually find me hiking, bouldering, or taking photos. There’s nothing I love more than capturing life’s beauty.

Why did you decide to join Expedia Group? 
I was drawn to Expedia Group’s mission of using technology to make travel accessible and seamless for everyone. I see Expedia Group as a supportive environment where I can contribute to a global platform and learn from industry-leading engineers.

What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I hope to experience the full process of designing a page, from a small feature through to a complete user-facing product. I also want to deepen my understanding of backend systems, refine my coding design skills, and absorb industry best practices.

Wassim Keddache | Mobile Engineer Intern | Montréal, Canada

– Polytechnique Montréal

Outside of work, I enjoy cinema, volleyball, and attending concerts. My favorite travel destination so far has been Florence. I was blown away by its architecture, rich history, and incredible food.

Why did you decide to join Expedia Group? 
For its reputation as a global technology leader driving innovation in the travel industry. The opportunity to develop my skills in a high-impact environment while contributing to products that support millions of travelers worldwide strongly aligned with my professional goals.

What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I aim to strengthen my technical skills, gain a comprehensive understanding of the mobile app ecosystem at EG, and develop a clearer view of how the business operates and creates value. I also hope to build meaningful connections with peers.

Payten Slack | Commercial Intern | Austin, TX, USA

– New York University

I am passionate about destination planning, tourism development, event management, and curating travel experiences. I am also a first-generation college student! I am so excited to meet everyone in the program.

Why did you decide to join EG?
EG has been on my radar since my freshman year of college, as my studies in hospitality and attending professional conferences exposed me to the company and what it has been working on over the years. I resonated with EG’s focus on using travel for good and ensuring travel is accessible to all, so it is really exciting to be a part of the magic in making that happen.

What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I hope that by the end of this program, I will leave with a feeling of accomplishment and ownership in the work that I completed. I want to feel like I made the most out of the extensive network and learning opportunities here, walking away with a better idea of where my future will lead!

Tam Le | Technical Program Management Intern | Seattle, WA, USA

My favorite place to travel is California. I’m obsessed with applications that make life easier for people, and I’m excited to learn how Expedia Group simplifies the often stressful process of trip planning into a smooth, straightforward, and enjoyable experience.

Why did you decide to join Expedia Group?
I really enjoyed the engaging conversations I had during my interviews with EG! The confidence and expertise of my interviewers as well as engaging case study questions convinced me that I would be given similar work here.

What do you want to achieve by the end of the program?
I would love to leave a positive impact on my team by completing my project as well as contributing to additional tasks. I also aim to teach my team how to fish.
