What Interviewers Look For
Our interviewers are looking to understand how you think, what motivates you, and how your experience aligns with the skills and competencies needed for the role. They’ll also be evaluating how clearly you communicate, how you approach problem-solving, and how effectively you collaborate with others. If a question is unclear, feel free to ask for clarification or have it repeated. -
HackerRank Challenge
During this interview, you will talk through the HackerRank assessment you previously submitted.
Your interviewer will have access to the assessment and your submitted responses. You can expect that they will ask you questions to further understand your thought process and approach, discuss you to share more about your process, why you took certain steps, and what the results were.

Your interviewer will also ask you additional questions related to the Expedia Group behaviors. -
Technical & Behavioral Interview
During this interview, you will answer a set of technical questions related to core Applied Science fundamentals. Your interviewer will share a scenario or task with you and ask you to walk through your approach to the problem, including methods to utilize data, create models, and evaluate and apply your plan.
For PhD's candidates, you can expect questions to be aligned with your selected topics at application stage. -

Virtual Tips
Join the interview five minutes early, choose a quiet space, and test your connection in advance. Please keep your camera on during the interview to help build connection and show that you’re engaged in the conversation.
We also value the authenticity and originality of responses during the interview process, so we ask that you do not use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to answer questions. Genuine, personal insights are important for a meaningful evaluation.

The STAR technique is a simple way to structure your answers to behavioral interview questions. It helps you tell a clear, focused story by walking through the situation, the task, the action you took, and the result.

Is AI usage of any kind allowed in the interview process at Expedia Group?

How long does it take to hear back on a decision?
Thank you for your patience. Timelines can vary depending on ongoing interviews and other steps in the process, but your recruiter will share updates as soon as they are available. -
Who will be my interviewers?
Interviewers are selected based on their level, role profile, and training. While they will be Expedia Group employees aligned to the role profile you are applying for, they may not be part of the specific team you would ultimately join. -
I am interviewing for more than 1 position at Expedia Group. Can I complete just one of the interviews?
No. It is important to complete the interview process for each role profile, as every position has different requirements. Interviewers will assess your fit based on the specific role profile for that position. -
I am interviewing or have received another offer with a competing timeline. Can I get my hiring decision expedited?
If you have a competing offer deadline, please let your recruiter know as soon as possible. They will let you know whether an expedited hiring decision may be possible. -
Do I need to be on camera for my interview?
Yes. We ask that candidates keep their camera on for each interview. -
My interview is tomorrow, and I have not received details regarding links or names of my interviewers. What should I do?
If you have not received your interview link details by the morning of your interview, please email [email protected]. -
Am I allowed to thank the interviewers after the interviews are complete?
Yes. You are welcome to share a thank-you note with your recruiter or send it to [email protected]. -
If I’m not selected for the role, would there be an opportunity to receive feedback for future growth?
Depending on availability, your recruiter may be able to share interviewer feedback after the final interview rounds to support your future growth and development.
