Data Scientist III, Analytics – Growth Marketing, New and Emerging Opportunities Team

Introduction to the team:

The New and Emerging Opportunities (NEO) Team serves as an incubator of new partners and product ideas for Expedia Group’s marketing organization. We’re tasked with identifying, building, and testing opportunities that will deliver incremental customer growth and return on ad spend, as well as diversifying how and where we engage with customers as their behaviors evolve. NEO operates as a small, cross functional team operating as a squad to execute at high velocity. We’re always thinking about new ideas, making frequent bets, and learning from everything we do.

We are seeking a resourceful, data-driven, and experimentation-minded Senior Data Scientist to own all analytics responsibilities for our team. This individual contributor role is ideal for a hands-on data scientist who thrives at the intersection of marketing, technology, innovation, and experimentation.

You will collaborate closely with our team to uncover opportunities, design experiments, and analyze results to validate and identify drivers. You will also oversee reporting and data quality, provide support for our analytics tools and technology, and represent our team across various forums and audiences. AI will be involved with how you operate and what you do, leveraging it to enhance your work and contributing to the expanding AI projects our team supports.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a leader in growth focused analysis, finding opportunities to accelerate campaign/product growth and drive improvement on key outcomes such as incremental return on ad spend (iROAS) or achieving product market fit. Generate and communicate clear data driven recommendations across a diverse set of projects.

  • Apply your experience with statistics and incrementality testing to evaluate various partner conversion lift study (CLS) products, design experiments, and analyze results to validate and identify key drivers/insights.

  • Carry out exploratory analysis to assess opportunities and influence prioritization within our roadmap. Collaborate with campaign, product, and program management functions to develop these opportunities from incubation to scale.

  • Own all reporting and data quality, from the early phases of manual execution to later working with data engineering to productionize processes for the opportunities that scale.

  • Socialize your findings within the team, with leaders, or in other forums (e.g., test and learn reviews). Document learnings to build our organization’s institutional knowledge base.

  • Utilize SQL to write queries and build templates for clean rooms analysis, for use cases such as CLS validation and exploratory analysis of customer segments and performance.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • PhD, Masters or Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related technical field with 2-4 years’ work experience OR 4+ years of experience in a comparable data analytics role with relevant experience. Experience supporting performance marketing channels is preferred.

  • Demonstratable experience in Data Science or Analytics roles, designing experiments and conducting exploratory data analysis. Incrementality testing experience preferred.

  • Demonstrable advanced level experience of using R, Python or SQL and you have a talent for using it to help you quickly distill key insights from large data sets.

  • Experience delivering analytics projects to different business areas and displaying strong business acumen.

  • Adept at collaborating and communicating across functional lines and levels.

  • Have a growth mindset and a curiosity to understand how things work.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
