Data Scientist III – Insurtech

Introduction to the Team

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our InsurTech Analytics team. This role is at the heart of Expedia Group’s high value global InsurTech business, enabling strategic decisions and solving complex business challenges to drive commercial growth, optimize performance, and shape the strategy of multi-million-dollar partnerships. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data science and business strategy, and is passionate about leveraging data to drive innovation, commercial growth, and compelling storytelling. You will partner closely with commercial, product, strategy, and finance teams to drive commercial initiatives, uncover insights, and influence critical KPIs. This is an opportunity to blend deep data science expertise with strategic business impact, through analytics driven recommendations.

In This Role, You Will

  • Deliver actionable insights and predictive models to support strategic and commercial initiatives across InsurTech.

  • Develop scalable analytics solutions and dashboards to monitor performance, track OKRs and KPIs, and inform decision-making.

  • Identify revenue growth opportunities and underperforming areas by analyzing partner performance, product uptake, and market trends.

  • Provide data-driven guidance for strategic decisions across partnerships and commercial initiatives, leveraging benchmarking and trend analysis.

  • Collaborate with commercial, product, finance, and strategy teams to identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve real-world business problems.

  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our analytics capabilities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in commercial analytics, data science, or a related field.

  • Strong business acumen with a proven track record of driving commercial outcomes and influencing KPIs.

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python or R).

  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Excellent communication, storytelling, and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing high-value strategic partnerships in travel, insurance, or fintech.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to solve complex problems in a fast-paced environment.

  • Collaborative mindset and passion for driving commercial growth through analytics.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
