Introduction to the Team
We create and deliver an aligned, dedicated marketing strategy to fuel each Expedia Group brand's success. Since our travelers interact with us through our brands, we have a brand focus in our marketing, while leveraging the scale and efficiency we’ve built in functional expertise.
The Growth Marketing team at Expedia Group is seeking an innovative, strategic, and technically adept Director of Paid Social to lead our global social advertising programs across Expedia’s brands. This leader will own the performance, automation, and innovation strategy for the Paid Social channels, driving measurable business outcomes, advancing our automation maturity, and representing Growth Marketing both across the company and with external partners.
This role is ideal for a leader who combines deep channel expertise with a passion for building systems that scale. The ideal candidate is not only fluent in paid social execution but can also design long-term frameworks for AI-driven optimization, experimentation, and measurement. They will act as a connective tissue between Growth Marketing, Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Brand, ensuring social advertising serves Expedia Group’s broader strategic goals while maintaining channel excellence and fiscal discipline.
In this role, you will:
Own and drive business outcomes for Paid Social globally across all Expedia Group brands—defining the strategy, performance goals, and investment approach that align with company-level objectives.
Translate Expedia Group’s growth priorities into Paid Social plans that drive profitable customer acquisition, engagement, and retention.
Lead with a test-and-learn mindset, designing scalable experimentation frameworks that inform strategy and accelerate learning.
Develop and communicate clear success frameworks (e.g., marginal return modeling, elasticity, incrementality) to ensure Paid Social investment is optimized for efficiency and growth.
Be a bar raiser for automation in marketing—partnering with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to design and deploy AI-driven systems that improve creative testing, bidding, and audience optimization.
Define the roadmap for Paid Social automation maturity, ensuring systems are auditable, explainable, and consistently improving.
Champion measurement innovation and experimentation, balancing automation with human insight and brand safety.
Represent Growth Marketing across Expedia Group, influencing how other teams’ initiatives are translated into (or intentionally excluded from) Paid Social campaigns.
Educate stakeholders on when social advertising is the right fit—and when it isn’t—helping the organization make smarter, data-informed decisions.
Serve as the primary external representative with platform partners (Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.), driving joint business plans, alpha tests, and new capability adoption.
Collaborate closely with Brand, Product, and Analytics teams to ensure Paid Social aligns with broader business and customer goals.
Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of performance marketers—creating a culture of curiosity, ownership, and technical excellence.
Establish operational mechanisms that ensure consistent measurement, experimentation, and goal tracking across the team.
Develop future leaders within the organization through coaching, stretch assignments, and cross-functional exposure.
Experience and qualifications:
10+ years of experience in performance marketing, with significant time spent in Paid Social leadership roles
Proven track record managing large, multi-million-dollar budgets across multiple brands or markets with strong ROI outcomes
Expertise in social platform strategy (Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Snap, Reddit, etc.) and automation systems (API integrations, dynamic creative, automated bidding)
Advanced analytical and financial fluency—able to model diminishing returns, incremental value, and cross-channel elasticity.
Experience designing or partnering on marketing automation frameworks using AI/ML systems
Strong technical acumen (SQL, data visualization, or equivalent experience interpreting large datasets)
Exceptional communication skills, able to simplify complex concepts for executive and technical audiences alike
Experience representing marketing teams in cross-functional forums and with senior leadership
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive alignment across diverse teams
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
