Introduction to the team
The API Platform team in Expedia Group’s Platform Engineering organization builds and operates the platform that powers APIs across all EG brands. We focus on delivering reliable, scalable, and developer friendly tooling that makes API development and management intuitive, accelerating time to market and driving significant productivity gains for engineering teams.
We provide frameworks and shared libraries that help teams build production ready services in a consistent way, going from idea to running application in minutes using our templates and generators. We also design, build, and operate business critical API gateways that support multiple protocols (e.g., REST, GraphQL, MCP) and handle millions of requests per day.
In this role, you will:
Drive end-to-end delivery of complex, cross-functional technical programs from definition through launch, ensuring clear scope, milestones, and success metrics
Coordinate across engineering, product, design, data, and operations teams to align roadmaps, remove blockers, and ensure timely, high-quality outcomes
Build and maintain program plans, dependency maps, and risk registers, and communicate status, tradeoffs, and impacts effectively to partners and stakeholders
Define and implement scalable mechanisms, workflows, and dashboards to track program health, using data and metrics to guide decisions and continuous improvement
Collaborate with technical leaders to translate business and customer needs into executable technical workstreams, including services, APIs, data flows, and integrations
Safely integrate and operate AI/ML enabled solutions that improve outcomes, including demonstrating familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years for Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years for Master’s in a technical field, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Experience driving technical programs or projects in a software, platform, or data/AI environment, with ownership of multi-team or multi-service initiatives
Proven ability to partner with engineering teams on technical delivery plans, including understanding of services, APIs, system dependencies, data flows, and operational constraints
Demonstrated track record of managing program execution using standard methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, or similar), including risk management, dependency management, and stakeholder communication
Familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, or workflows and applying AI/ML concepts to real world products at the program level
Strong technical acumen, including understanding of system and API design, software development lifecycle, and data-driven program management
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience leading complex, multi-quarter technical programs at scale, involving multiple services, platforms, or domains, with clear business outcomes
Proven ability to influence technical and product roadmaps, drive alignment on architecture and integration decisions, and balance short-term delivery with long-term platform health
Strong data-driven decision-making skills, including defining and using program-level metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to manage performance and improve processes
Demonstrated operational excellence, including risk management, process optimization, and continuous improvement
Safely integrates and operates AI/ML‑enabled solutions that improve outcomes, with advanced familiarity in applying AI/ML to program management challenges
Experience taking products or platform capabilities from concept to scaled adoption, including discovery, validation, launch, and ongoing iteration in partnership with engineering and product teams
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
